Congratulations 2022 Mississippi FTC Championship Winners!

On March 5, 2022, the Center for Mathematics and Science Education and the University of Mississippi hosted the 2022 Mississippi FTC Championship at the Tad Smith Coliseum. Eighteen FIRST Tech Challenge teams from all over Mississippi came to participate in this fun event. FTC Teams #8651 - Wait For It... and #14236 - Slight Malfunction qualified to attend the FIRST 2022 Championship, which will be held in Houston, TX on April 20-23, 2022. Congratulations to all FTC winners and teams!

Team #8651 - Wait For It...

Winner of the Inspire Award at the Mississippi Championship is a 4-H robotics team of six 10th and 11th grade students who have fun hanging out together. As mentioned in their Engineering Portfolio, through their membership plan, they have been able to attain skill proficiency and continuity in the designing, building, and programming of their robot. Their mission is to lead in connecting with, motivating and inspiring students and adults to be actively involved in STEM education and FIRST robotics that showcase their abilities by building a well-designed, innovative, and competitive robot.

Team #14236 - Slight Malfunction

Captain of the Winning Alliance at the Mississippi Championship is a relatively new (4-year) community - based FIRST Tech Challenge team from Wesson, MS. One of their mottos are "We put the FUN in Malfunction." With one of this year's game elements being a rubber duck, they converted their outreach trash robot into a little duck that they like to zoom around the pit area. They also outfitted their competitive robot with googly eyes to give it a unique look and feel. The team also has matching googly eye glasses that they wear around the competition.
