Capuchins Provide Outreach in LA Using Their Food Truck

In response to the recent Los Angeles fires, the Capuchin Franciscan Friars mobilized their "Capuchin Family Kitchen" food truck to provide meals to evacuees and first responders. In just ten days, they served around 4,000 meals. They collaborated with World Central Kitchen to set up a distribution site at St. Francis High School. After serving the immediate needs of those impacted by the fires, the Friars have resumed their normal outreach efforts to the homeless population in LA while still serving those impacted by the fires. The Friars have been distributing personal protective equipment and air purifiers, among other things, to help displaced LA residents.

Letter of the Holy Father to the Bishops of the United States of America

On Tuesday, February 11, Pope Francis released a letter to the Bishops of the United States. In his letter, the Holy Father writes about the current political climate in the United States and the duty of the Church during these times.

I exhort all the faithful of the Catholic Church, and all men and women of good will, not to give in to narratives that discriminate against and cause unnecessary suffering to our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters. With charity and clarity we are all called to live in solidarity and fraternity, to build bridges that bring us ever closer together, to avoid walls of ignominy and to learn to give our lives as Jesus Christ gave his for the salvation of all.— Pope Francis
