Dear Parents,
The
transition
to a distance learning model will be challenging for everyone: parents, students, and teachers. We will be expecting different reactions from students to this new situation for all of them. Some students will thrive while others might struggle, but all students can develop important skills of self-management, organization, and responsibility as they continue learning from home.
We believe resiliency and thriving amidst uncertainty will be a skill for the future, and your children will learn this alongside you during this transition time.
All teachers and staff at CNG are working to develop ways to ensure productive and effective learning.
There is an ongoing boom in media messages and news around covid-19. Students will be looking to all adults in their lives for reassurance and especially parents for cues on how to react and respond to these media messages.
Please assure your children of the low probability for them to become seriously ill from the virus.
It is important for them to be told there is no alarm for their personal safety. The overall concern is with anyone becoming a carrier for someone that is at higher risk for serious illness if they contract the virus. It is important to reinforce to your children that taking care and precaution to stop the spread of the virus is a way of working together to care for their family, our community and the world at large. Concerns and growing anxieties can be shifted to focus on following health and wellness guidelines during this time.
Some international schools have already gone to distance learning, and we have gathered information about their experiences.
Here are some suggestions from our CNG K4-12 Counseling Team for parents regarding care for children during extended home-distance learning:
Our CNG K4- 12 Counseling Team will be hosting WEBEX virtual meetings in each school division on the week of
