Overnight Closure of Airport Access from Merrill Avenue
Chino Airport Tenants,
Please be advised that on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, from 7 PM to Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at 7 AM, all access to Chino Airport from Merrill Avenue will be temporarily closed overnight.
Merrill Avenue will be closed from Stearman Drive to Grove Avenue. This closure is necessary due to significant grade differences between the north and south side lanes, which prevent safe crossing between these areas. During this period, all airport access will be rerouted to Kimball Avenue at Gate 1 (the entrance to the commercial hangar complex).
To ensure safety and assist airport users during the closure, several Norstar staff members will patrol the north side of the airport and will provide escorts to the south side gate as needed. The south side gate will remain staffed throughout the closure to assist with entry and exit.
We understand that this may cause inconvenience for some nighttime operations; however, this closure is essential to facilitate the Merrill Avenue street widening project.
Beginning Monday, October 14, traffic circulation will shift from the existing south-side lanes to the newly constructed north-side lanes. Please note that to access the airport from the north side lanes, traffic will need to cross the south side lanes, which remains impacted by the grade differences mentioned earlier.
