President's Message
Kim Farrell, President
During this special season of gratitude, I find myself continually thankful for the support, wisdom and flexibility of our board members, chairs and committee members who work so hard to make fun, meaningful and rewarding events for our students and members. Thank you to all!
A huge thank you goes out to Barb Irwin and Robbie Padilla for organizing the annual Halloween Recital on Sunday, October 27th at The Piano and Organ Center. Teachers and their students enjoyed participating by dressing up in costumes and performing “spooky” music. Congratulations to all on a spooktacular afternoon!
Our monthly Teacher Forum is a great chance to meet and chat with members on various topics related to our teaching. Our forum this quarter was focused on learning about our three competition opportunities that CNYAMT offers to our students. Thank you to our chair, Mary Whittington, for organizing this event. Thanks also go out to Bernadette Kessler, co-chair for our Piano Competition, Dana DiGennaro, co-chair for the Instrumental Competition, and Gayle Ross, co-chair for the Vocal Competition on their informative presentations.
Plans for our next Holiday Recital Fundraiser are well under way, thanks to Bernadette Kessler and Beth Scott. We are having the recital again this year at the Barnes & Noble on Route 31 in Clay on Saturday, December 7th. It will run from 9:00 AM - 8:30 PM. Stop by and support CNYAMT!
Mark your calendar for the next Community Outreach Recital on Sunday, February 9th to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It will be held at the Brookdale Manlius Retirement Community in Manlius. Keep an eye out for more information in the New Year.
I wish you all a very healthy and blessed holiday season and a very Happy New Year!
All members are welcome to join us at the next board meeting on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Email Kim for an invitation at farrellka4@gmail.com.

SAS Ribbon Festival - Saturday, February 1, 2025
Mark your calendars and prepare your students for a fun, enriching piano evaluation experience!
In 1997, Lynn Moroz and the late James Lee Vatter, started the SAS Ribbon Festival. Over the years, many students have participated in this special event. Each student prepares a few scales, a solo piece and is required to play a short sight reading example. The award of an elaborate ribbon is given, color based on the resulting score. This event is meant to encourage performance in front of different judges who provide encouraging and constructive feedback. It is a wonderful way to become comfortable with this scenario. It is also a perfect warm-up for the March festivals and competitions. All levels are welcome!
We are lucky enough to now hold the SAS Ribbon Festival at Onondaga Community College in the Marvin and Schuh Recital Hall!
