CNYRIC Directors Update

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, ASSISTANCE, AND RESOURCES TO ENHANCE DISTRICTS’ DATA ECOSYSTEMS IN SUPPORT OF LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND STATE PRIORITIES

To assist our districts with increasing their familiarity with the SchoolTool Advanced Analytics Base Dashboards, a project team of coordinators and consultants at the CNYRIC is reviewing these dashboards ahead of a planned spring workshop. More information will be coming soon, but in the meantime, Mindex has created a library of resources to help districts leverage the Advanced Analytics Dashboards. Should you need assistance with Advanced Analytics prior to the spring workshop, please do not hesitate to reach out to your district's primary SchoolTool consultant and data coordinator.

Coordinators have also been working with districts to verify BEDS Day Enrollment and Economically Disadvantaged data to meet the Jan. 2 data collection deadline. This data is collected via SIRS to calculate preliminary State Aid allocations. Enrollment counts are also used to create the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) EDFacts Directory, the official directory of all schools and districts for federal reporting.

Bob Reale and CNYRIC data coordinators have been meeting with districts to verify Special Education VR1-9 data and Events Data to meet Jan. 20 Certification deadlines. Districts and nonpublic schools are required to certify data in the PD System as this data reflects official child count and LRE reported to USDE.

The fall season generally marks the first delivery of report cards to families, and there are many different hands involved in the successful delivery of these quarterly benchmarks. The process involves the completion and thorough testing of all design and development work, which is a collaborative effort between the design team and consultants who conduct testing with districts. Additionally, the printing team manages the production phase to ensure all report cards are completed. These various teams are always happy to accept feedback on the process; please do not hesitate to reach out to your district's primary SchoolTool consultant.

The Educational Data Services (EDS) team and the Test Scoring Department have several training sessions coming up to assist our districts as they head into the second half of their academic year. On Tuesday, Jan. 6, there will be a virtual SchoolTool Secondary Scheduling Workshop (Part 1) from 1-3 p.m. This workshop is intended for secondary administrators and counseling staff. Members of the EDS team will help go through the scheduling process to set up for the next school year. You can register via Frontline.

Additionally, on Wednesday, Jan. 28, members of the EDS team will host a virtual STAR Winter User Group from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Participants will engage in a facilitated "Fall Check-in" to discuss implementation successes and navigate shared challenges with regional peers. They will also get the opportunity to dive deep into Student Growth Percentiles and goal setting, with a focus on leveraging Growth, Student Mastery, and Progress Reports to set ambitious but attainable targets. Guest presenter Lisa Baumohl will also present on "Leading STAR Data Conversations," which is perfect for coaches and leaders looking to foster a data-driven culture. Registration is through Frontline.

The Test Scoring Department will be hosting a Zoom training for CBT testing on Jan. 7 from 10-11:30 a.m. Registration is through Frontline.

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, ASSISTANCE, AND RESOURCES TO ENHANCE DISTRICTS’ SECURITY POSTURE IN SUPPORT OF LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND STATE PRIORITIES

To further strengthen our regional security posture, the CNYRIC has secured a strategic partnership with CrowdStrike and CDW to provide a high-impact endpoint security upgrade opportunity, effective Jan. 1, 2026. This initiative allows districts to deploy enterprise-grade protection - including endpoint detection response, threat hunting, and managed detection and response - with a predictable three-year pricing ramp designed to lower the barrier to entry for year one. Beyond the software, participating districts gain a regional advantage through direct CNYRIC support for proactive threat hunting.

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, ASSISTANCE, AND RESOURCES TO ENHANCE DISTRICTS’ TECHNOLOGY ECOSYSTEMS IN SUPPORT OF LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND STATE PRIORITIES

To ensure operational stability and regional cohesion, we are proposing a Collective IT Professional Development service designed to establish a high-standard skill set across all district IT teams, by leveraging the StormWind training platform - an industry leader offering live instructor-led sessions and hands-on labs. The proposed service would have the CNYRIC work collaboratively with the region to deliver a syllabus for new hires, identify regional training priorities, manage accounts and course assignments, and provide reporting on usage and completion of training.
