President's Message

I am honored to serve as the President of the Central New York Women’s Bar Association for the 2022-2023 membership year.

I have been a proud and active member of CNYWBA for several years. It is an organization that is devoted to its members and stays true to its mission.

Fulfilling CNYWBA’s mission during a pandemic has proven to be a challenge. Our organization owes a great debt to Immediate Past President Jillian McGuire, who reengaged members and found creative ways for us to connect and contribute during times of isolation.

Now that CNYWBA has returned to programming, our aim for this year is to increase our membership so that our legal community and community at large can experience and benefit from all that we have to offer. There is much to look forward to with enthusiasm.

This year, we continue our monthly Breakfast at the Bar meetups, offered as part of our partnership with Onondaga County Bar Association’s Women in the Courts Workgroup.

We have reintroduced our Judge’s Choice Dinner, spotlighting Supreme Court Justice Danielle Fogel in August and United States Magistrate Judge Thérèse Wiley Dancks in October.

In September, we honored our judiciary and announced the results of our judicial screening process at our annual Judicial Reception.

This November, we will celebrate our 40th Anniversary with a celebration at the Everson Art Museum.

Recently, CNYWBA received NYSBA’s Innovation Award for our annual “Read Across America” program. This long-standing program, spearheaded by Emanuela D'Ambrogio, brings CNYWBA members into local schools to read to elementary students.

This winter, we will continue our commitment to social action with a professional clothing drive to benefit local women.

As the year goes on, I am eager to see the ways that fulfillment of CNYWBA’s mission betters our legal community. I am honored to do so alongside our incredible and devoted members.
