The 5th Judicial District has shared a posting for a Court Attorney-Referee based in the new Help Center located in the Syracuse Law Library. The position will be responsible for oversight of the Help Center in Onondaga County, and virtually in the other counties in the 5th Judicial District. Duties include, but are not limited to: working with and overseeing court employees, volunteer attorneys, and law students at the Help Center; assisting and directing staff, attorneys, and the public to appropriate legal forms and research databases available for various types of court proceedings; assisting in reviewing manuals concerning personnel policies and training of court personnel, attorney volunteers and others assisting the public in the Help Center; preparing correspondence; and reviewing reports and preparing summaries and comments. Travel will be required to visit other help centers around the District and State. Application deadline is January 13, 2025.

The Syracuse University College of Law will be hosting the National Trial Competition Regional from Friday, February 21, 2025, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. 

The Competition is sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers, the Texas Young Trial Lawyers Association, and the Trial Lawyers Section of the New York Bar Association. 

Twenty-two teams from this region will be participating in the competition, and they NEED OVER 150 JUDGES/LAWYERS to evaluate their performance and provide valuable feedback.
