Bringing Gender Justice into Pretrial

by C.C. Strom

Women and gender-diverse people experience pretrial and criminal legal systems differently. Research by the Center for Effective Public Policy (CEPP) found deficits in how these systems allow people to express and advocate for themselves, how courts explain pretrial processes, and how they acknowledge individual situations. Authors and experts discuss CEPP’s Gender Justice Pretrial Toolkit, the needs of system-involved women, and the benefits of a participatory pretrial process.
