The Central New York Women's Bar Association,
the National Women's Law Student Association Chapter at Syracuse University College of Law, and the Fifth Judicial District Women in the Courts Committee
are pleased to announce the first in a series of annual lectures in memory of Karen DeCrow. The Karen DeCrow Lecture Series was created to promote the values that Karen strived to advance throughout her life, including gender equality, human rights, and social justice.
We are excited to announce that the first speaker in the Karen DeCrow Lecture Series will be
Sarah Feingold, Counsel at Etsy, Inc.
Etsy is an e-commerce website focusing on handmade and vintage items, including art, photography, clothing, and jewelry.
Sarah is a 2005 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law and worked as a law clerk for Karen DeCrow during her time at the College of Law. In 2007, Sarah was hired as the first in-house attorney and the 17th employee at Etsy. Just as Etsy has combined
the high tech and the handmade, Sarah has found success at the junction of her diverse interests: making jewelry and practicing law.
As in-house attorney for Etsy, a company valued at over $1 billio
n at the time of its April 2015 IPO, Sarah handles the company's legal matters while providing accessible legal information to the site's community of artists. Sarah speaks regularly on issues
including social entrepreneurism, alternative legal careers, feminism, and intellectual property law.
