Since 1965, the Office of the Arts has developed and strengthened the arts in Connecticut with the goal of making artistic expression widely available to residents and visitors.
NEA ANNONCES GRANTS  TO CONNECTICUT ORGANIZATIONS

Fourteen (14) Connecticut organization, including the Connecticut Office of the Arts, will receive $1,045,800 in federal grants through the National Endowment for the Arts.  These grants will support activities in communities throughout Connecticut that effect the state's economy, quality of life and educational programs.

In celebration of their 50th Anniversary, he National Endowment for the Arts looks at the arts and culture of Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT ARTS ENDOWMENT
The Connecticut Office of the Arts awarded one hundred and thirty (130) Arts Endowment Grants totaling $385,301.    
FAREWELL TO JOHN CUSANO

The Office of the Arts bids farewell to John Cusano , who has been the Community Development Coordinator.  For the past 11 years, John crisscrossed the state to stimulate, advise and connect arts organizations across 169 towns. Working in collaboration with the state’s field of local arts agencies, John was responsible for helping to establish the network of now nine Designated Regional Service Organizations (DRSOs).  He will be sorely missed.
2016 GOVERNOR'S PATRON OF THE ARTS
Established in 2014, the Governor's Patron of the Arts Awards honor individuals, foundations and companies for their generosity, passion and support of the arts in Connecticut. The following will be honored at a reception in the Fall 2016 at the Governor's Residence in Hartford, Connecticut:

Be part of a progressive State that recognizes the important role the arts and culture play in building a rich, vibrant community.

Working closely with the Director of Culture you will gain valuable, hands-on experience assisting with the communication, outreach, planning and marketing for the Connecticut Office of the Arts and State Historic Preservation Office programs.  

Position Requirements:

  • Assist in the preparation of power points/keynote presentations and marketing materials.
  • Interact with members of the arts community, staff and public officials
  • Conduct research on cultural activities in cities across the region.
  • Assist with Arts Council & Arts Advisory Committee meetings and related projects.
  • Utilize excellent computer skills – graphic design skills a plus.
  • Assist in administrative and clerical support activities as needed.
Additional internship enhancement experiences may be required, but not included in 10-15 hours of work per week.
