Society Leadership Rosters
REMINDER: be sure to keep your leader roster current!
1) Log in to your COA dashboard
3) Make sure your society leadership roster is up-to-date.
Upon first accessing the admin portal, your current society leadership roster will be displayed. It's important that this is kept up-to-date with leaders' positions, start, and end dates. Don't see this option? That means you are not listed as a current society leader with admin access. Please contact us to correct this.
If you're wondering why keeping your leader roster up-to-date is so important, there are several reasons:
Project Keep
Society leaders who have graduated in the last 10 years receive discounted COA and Society dues ONLY if they are serving as an active society officer/trustee or committee/team lead. How do we check this? On your leader roster! Does COA still use Project Keep applications? NO! COA no longer uses nor needs Project Keep applications!
Admin Access
Leaders who are granted admin access are able to log in and view all your society reports and membership roster. Additionally, there are special sections within the COA app and websites that only current leaders can access.
Information
Communications (like this one) are only sent to society leadership. So if your leader roster isn't updated, the wrong people may be receiving important information while the right people are missing out.

Represent COA & your Society at Capstone Events

Volunteer to participate in new grad events May 16 & 17
Graduation is right around the corner, and hundreds of students will soon be our newest members! We hope that you can assist in sharing the value and importance of AOA-COA-Society membership with these soon-to-be ODs.
These presentations are held at each CA optometry school during graduation week, and offer a great chance to engage with the class of 2023. We're still looking for a few members that could share an impactful story about membership (how they got a job, what resources they find beneficial, a legislative battle, etc.).

Review your membership roster and dropped member reports!
All Q1 drops and member changes have been completed. COA encourages you to review your society's reports in detail. Now is the time to contact those terminated members to recruit them back!
Even though dropped members have received several emails, letters, and calls from COA, these doctors sometimes need that personal outreach from their local society.

Society Schedules & Sponsorship
COA wants to support your events!
As discussed at Presidents' Council, we are asking each society to complete a brief questionnaire to gather information to allow for COA support with Society Sponsorship. There have been several COA annual sponsors expressing interest in this type of program.
We'd like to present and vote on a COA-managed sponsorship program during an upcoming Presidents' Council meeting, so we really need each society to respond. Thank you to the societies that have already completed this.

COA has received submissions from: ACCCOS, CCOS, SCCOS, SDOS, SFOS, SMOS and RHOS
If you are set as a society admin, you already have access to your society reports.
Use your COA credentials to log into the portal. By default, all current society leaders are set as administrators, but you can control this setting when updating your leadership roster.
What you can access on the portal:
Upon first accessing the portal, your current society leadership roster will be displayed. It's important that this is kept up-to-date with leaders' positions, start, and end dates - society leaders are granted special access to sections of the COA website, receive communications like this, plus it's used to verify Project Keep.
COA provides real-time member and potential member (nonmember) reports for you to view and download. You can also access the current year's new members, dropped members, and more.
COA transfers your society dues to your account the month after they are collected. You can view the payments made each month in this report.
COA publishes a site just for you with TONS of resources.
Most of you already know this site exists, since it is where you submit your CE for approval. But you can also find lots of current information around membership and dues.
2023 dues schedules are available to download for every society. This cheat sheet makes answering dues questions so much easier! You can also find information on membership categories, where dues go, and more.
Society officers, trustees, and committee chairs up to 10 years post-graduation are eligible for Project Keep - there are no more Project Keep applications! Leadership rosters must be kept up-to-date and members must remain in good standing.
All membership forms are available online - all the links you need to help your members here. You can also find recent membership presentations, flyers, and brochures available to download.
This is your hub for all things education. Submit CE programs for COA approval, upload post-event attendance lists, find CE resources and the upcoming society event calendar.
