Fight the Summer Slide

“Summer slide” is what happens when learners lose skills or knowledge during a break from classes. It’s common over the summer—and it can make it harder to pick things back up in the fall.

COABE is here to help you stay sharp and keep moving forward. We’ve partnered with eCornell, Google, and IBM SkillsBuild to offer free, flexible online courses designed to build your confidence, grow your skills, and support your goals.

Want to earn a certificate from Cornell University? Gain job-ready tech skills with Google? Explore careers in remote work or cybersecurity with IBM? There’s a path for you.

This summer, don’t slow down—fight the slide and invest in your future with COABE.

All programs are available at no cost to adult learners through COABE to our adult learner members.

Sign the Educate & Elevate America Pledge

Every year, COABE advocates for increased funding for adult education. Without a unified voice, legislators do not understand what adult education is and the impact that it has on people, families, and communities. We want to show Congress that people support adult education and believe that it makes a difference. That is why we launched an innovative Educate & Elevate America Pledge!

Help us get to 1 millions signers in 2 easy steps:

  1. Sign the pledge!
  2. Share the pledge on social media and by email with everyone you know!

SOS Fund

Did your car break down and you cannot afford the repairs? Do you have to choose between going to adult education classes or working to pay for heat? We are here to support you so you can stay in class!

COABE’s Educate & Elevate Foundation accepts applications year-round for the SOS (Support Our Students) Fund. Emergency grants are provided to an adult learner to offset an immediate barrier to sustained learning at a local program. Both the adult learner and the local program must be members of COABE.

Visit the Educate & Elevate Foundation webpage to apply.
