Educate and Elevate Success Stories
Featured Success Story - Neda Annasseri
Neda is an adult education student and graduate who earned her High School Equivalency Diploma in 2001. As with most adult education students, Neda faced many obstacles and barriers. She was able to overcome them through the growth experiences of raising her daughter, obtaining her GED, and earnest perseverance. She entered adult education ten years ago as a data and accountability program manager. After obtaining her teaching credentials she was able to move into the classroom. She has subsequently also entered into administration and management. Education technology has always been her passion and she is ever eager to learn the newest and best way to teach her students and staff. She is now the Coordinator of Technology Projects where she practices her passion and background by training others in the adult education field to utilize education technology tools, resources, integration and leadership strategies, learning platforms, and more!

Public Policy Update (11/8/19)
As we have previously reported, government funding under the current continuing resolution expires on November 21 and there has been no progress on resolving issues related to the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education (LHHS) spending bill. As a result of these stalled negotiations, appropriators and Congressional leaders are planning to pass another continuing resolution, which would extend current spending levels through mid-December, 2019. Their publicly stated goal is to pass all twelve appropriations bills before the new year. There are however, behind the scenes discussions about the potential for a continuing resolution that would extend through the new year and possibly up until the next presidential election. We will provide you with updates as we learn more about the status and length of the next continuing resolution.

Reports from the Trump Administration state that President Trump will support another continuing resolution as long as it does not affect his plans for border wall spending. This does leave the possibility for a government shutdown on the table, although this is an outcome that Congressional leaders hope to avoid.
Google Applied Digital Skills
Testimonial Winner
October 2019
We would like to congratulate October's $1,000 Winner, Kelli McCall! Here is an excerpt from Kelli's testimonial:

"I was responding to community organizations who needed their employees to collaborate on Google, and started creating the very lessons that are now included in Applied Digital Skills. I started the class using your curriculum at the beginning of October. My students are all ESL learners with a variety of English and computer skills. The curriculum is great! These skills will give students the skills and confidence they need to be successful in their jobs."

In this issue, we are exploring leadership. We are grateful that so many of you reflected on how leadership manifests itself in your work—in research, in partnership, in professional development, and in your classrooms. As you read these remarkable pieces, you won’t be surprised to learn that adult education leadership is collaborative, distributed, and egoless.
