We last reported that the President signed into law a continuing resolution which level-funds the Federal government through November 21. Currently, House and Senate appropriators are working to agree upon the final fiscal year 2020 spending bills. As you may recall, the House appropriators included a $30 million increase to Adult Education programs and Senate appropriators level-funded Adult Education programs. While we are pleased to see that the Senate appropriators did not include a cut to our programs, we still have time to advocate for the $30 million increase for Adult Education that was included in the House spending bill.
With Congress coming back from recess and returning to Washington, DC on Tuesday, October 15,
now is the time to email your Senators and urge them to include the House passed $30 million increase for Adult Education (total of $685.7 million) in any final appropriations bill.
Please tailor this letter by including relevant data and/or information on how your program is making an impact in your State.
