Building Teamwork Skills Through COB300

Teamwork is one of the eight key career competencies identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and the JMU College of Business is committed to helping students develop this vital skill. One of the best examples of this in action is the COB300 integrated core course.

If you have already completed it, are in the thick of COB 300, or gearing up for it, you already know it is no ordinary semester. Being placed on a team with students from across the College of Business pushes you to think beyond your major and step into a real-world scenario—one where communication, collaboration, and conflict management are key to success.

Yes, it is intense. But every late night, group meeting, and tough conversation is preparing you for the fast-paced, team-driven environment of today’s workforce. You’re not just creating a business plan—you are developing the skills that will set you apart long after graduation. Keep going—it is worth it.
