Pastor's Corner...

November 4, 2022

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We will be celebrating All Saints Sunday where we will remember all of those who now know the fullness of Christ’s legacy. It is an especially holy day and I pray you can be part of celebrating the communion of saints to which we all belong.

Love and peace.

This Sunday!

Community Group of COF will be offering new material on

Sunday mornings at 10am in Room 110

from October 23rd thru November 20th.

THE 11th COMMANDMENT:

EXPERIENCING THE ONE ANOTHERS OF SCRIPTURE

Imagine the stir Jesus must have caused when, during his final conversation with the disciples, he announced a new commandment, Essentially, the 11th Commandment (John 13:34-35), challenged the disciples then, and us now, with a new paradigm. His statement was significant and strategic. One phrase at a time it says:

-“Love one another.”

-“As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

-“All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

The definition of love itself is challenging. The actual doing of love is even more so.

The author of this material presents this theory: The mysterious “how-to” of love is practically explained by the One Another's of Scripture. And we demonstrate love by engaging in the One Another's.

Community Group will be taking on 5 of the 35 statements in the New Testament in which we see a recurring word pattern—

---an action verb followed by the words “one another” (example-“Encourage one another”), which will play a part in transforming us as well as those we encounter in our daily lives. We invite you to come along for the adventure!

Prayer

We bless your holy name, O God, for all your servants who, having finished their course, now rest from their labors.

Give us grace to follow the example of their steadfastness and faithfulness, to your honor and glory;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Family & Children's Ministry
Led by Kathy Beuttenmuller

Join us on the Children's Ministry Facebook page

This Sunday we will read the story, The Keeping Quilt. This story is about a quilt made by the storyteller’s great-grandmother. The life of their family is woven into this quilt that is passed down through generations of celebrations, losses, and transformations. This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Day. We will look at ways how we can have a keeping quilt in our lives as we remember people in our lives. Join us Sunday during the 11:00 service.

Transformers Youth Ministry
Led by Kathy Beuttenmuller

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewal of your mind.
Romans 12:2

Transformers Youth Ministry is a place where students (6th-12th grade) can form
relationships with their peers, grow in their faith, learn how to connect
with God, and serve the world.

This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Day. All Saints Day is a day to remember those who have gone before us. What are ways that you/your family have shown appreciation to the family members you have lost? How do you value their legacy? What kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind? Please join us this Sunday at 4:30!!!

Team 3:16 Campaign:

Church, we need your help. Hard working parents of students who attend our youth ministry struggle every year with saving enough money to send their teens to church summer camp, mission trips and multiple spiritual events. In the book of Acts, the early Christians helped with each other's needs.

Acts 2:44-45 All who believed were together and had all things in
common; they would sell their possessions and goods
and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.

Please become a Team 3:16 Member, and for less than a cup of coffee you can help our students participate in all our youth ministry offers. Visit the Get Connected Table in the lobby or Transformers Youth Table in the hallway for more information. Thank you.
