MESSAGE FROM FR. MICHAEL

Friends,

We have opened the doors of the Church for Mass in public.

Having said that, there are many things to consider.

First, is that we will be VERY LIMITED in how many people will be able to come to Mass. My estimate is 50-60, but it is just that...an estimate. Doors will open at 8:30AM and seats will be filled in a first-come, first-seated manner until we are at capacity.

Second, there will be practices that all must abide by who desire to be in the Church for Mass.

1) Everyone must wear a mask at all times while in the Church building. Please bring your own, as we will only have very limited numbers available for distribution.

2) Everyone will need to sanitize their hands on the way in. Automatic dispensers will be placed just inside the doors of the Church. You are welcomed and encouraged to bring your own as well for use before and after Holy Communion.

3) Everyone must abide by social distancing rules at all times. We have blue tape marking 6-foot increments on the floor for entering the Church and the Sanctuary. Ushers will seat you family unit by family unit using a very official red and yellow "Leave-Room-for-the-Holy-Spirit" rod to ensure 6-foot separation in every direction.

4) Please use the restroom before you arrive at Mass. The restrooms are open and available, but please only use them for moments of great need. Children must be accompanied if they need to use the facilities.

5) Everyone in the Church must come forward in the Communion line, even if they are not receiving. This is to prevent people from having to climb over one another. If you or someone in your family is not receiving, you or they should come forward when the usher arrives at the pew, and approach the priest/deacon/extraordinary minister with arms crossed over the chest to receive a blessing.

6) We have some parishioners who have the bad habit of leaving immediately after receiving Holy Communion. Obviously, you may leave at any point should you truly need to, but tee times and restaurant reservations do not constitute grave necessity. Ushers will dismiss the congregation in a smooth and orderly fashion at the conclusion of Mass.

Thank you for your understanding. We are moving forward, albeit slowly, but forward none the less. This will take some getting used to, but hopefully it doesn't last too long. This is a learning experience for all of us!

We will continue live-streaming everything we do, so no worries if you are not ready to come back or your health prevents you from coming back.
Please be aware that we will NOT have deputies directing traffic after Mass on Saturday or Sunday. If you plan to turn left on Lake Oconee Parkway after exiting the church please use the new road (West End Drive)that connects to the CVS which will bring you out at a stoplight on Linger Longer. Please see diagram below:
Stewardship Scripture Reflection
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

“Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” (1 Corinthians 10:17)

As disciples of Jesus, we are called to lead holy lives and invite others to join us. Living a stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gifts, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God’s kingdom here on earth. Two, it helps us strengthen each other’s relationship with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. It becomes our road map to Heaven. Let’s help each other get there!

GIVING
You are my inheritance, O Lord.

Offertory – At Masses & Online Giving
(Weekend of 6/7/20)  $13,584.

A most sincere thank you to all families who choose to continue supporting the church through your giving. Your support is crucial and heartfelt. Words fall short in expressing our gratitude. May God bless you for your generosity.

If you receive offering envelopes in the mail and do not need them because you are now giving online, please email Millie (cokas.finance@gmail.com) to discontinue them. Since there are fees for both online giving and envelopes, it would be most helpful to choose which you prefer in an effort to save costs for the parish. Thank you!

CLEANING TEAMS NEEDED!

To comply with CDC and Archdiocesan guidelines our church needs to be cleaned after every use.

If you are willing to be on a cleaning team to accomplish this so our church can remain open to celebrate Mass please go to the website and sign up using the link provided below.

Training will be provided and a zone will be assigned to you. It will require about 15-20 minutes of your time at the end of each Mass.

We will need a team of 6 for Saturday 5 PM and Sunday Masses 9 AM and 4 for weekday Masses.

If you volunteer for a clean team at Mass you will be guaranteed a seat at that Mass.

Prayer of Petition: In our journey as a faith-filled community during our Year of Service, may we all heed Jesus’ call to love one another. May we show our love by sacrificial acts of service in our families, parish and communities.   Let us pray to the Lord…

How can we serve each other during the self-isolation? Some ideas:
·         Volunteer to help sanitize church after masses.
·         Praise first responders.
·         Pray for our church and government leaders.
·         Thank employees of essential services.
·         Contribute to a food bank.
·         Continue to wear a mask while in public.
·         Observe social distancing.
·         Attend daily Mass occasionally to give someone a Sunday spot.
June is Human Trafficking Awareness Month

All Catholics are being asked to spend one hour to become more aware of the problem in GA and how it is affecting children and youth. Below are the links to the specific information and resources available to help spread the message.

Many of the apps used by children for games and social interaction, especially during the pandemic, are being used by predators to meet and groom children. We were encouraged to specifically ask every parent, grandparent, catechist and any catechetical leader to spend one hour becoming better informed on this topic.

Many Catholics are taking time to review their plans and paperwork to ensure that their families and the causes they care about are taken care of in the future. It is natural to make sure we are prepared and our wishes are carried out. Having our final plans in place is a gift to our family and friends so they can carry out our final wishes easily and in the most tax efficient manner.

If your thoughts are turning toward updating or making new will or estate plans, please consider attending this informational webinar.

Speakers include:

  • Nikola Djuric, attorney at Djuric Spratt
  • Fr. Neil Dhabliwala, pastor at St. Catherine of Siena
  • Juliet Greco, director of major and planned giving at the Catholic Foundation

Please join us for an overview of:

  • Key documents of estate planning - wills, advanced directives for healthcare, and financial powers of attorney
  • End of life planning for Catholics
  • How you can help both the causes you care about and your family with good planning
  • How to utilize giving methods that provide tax advantages
  • Will planning services offered at no cost at the Foundation
