ScoutBook Plus Updates

Important PERMISSIONS Updates in Scoutbook Plus

Scoutbook Plus is moving away from connections based permissions and moving towards position based permissions which will provide greater performance and permission customization.

In Scoutbook Plus, a unit can actively change functional positions for adults in their unit. For example, a Key 3 member may now change the unit’s Unit Advancement Chair in Scoutbook Plus. Previously, this action could only be performed in My.Scouting. Note: members will still be redirected to my.scouting.org to change registered positions. Click Here for for more details

Important Update for DEN LEADERS in Scoutbook Plus

The positions of Lion Guide, Tiger Den Leader, Webelos Leader and all associated assistant leader positions have been consolidated into Den Leader or Assistant Den Leader.

This will make for more efficient managing of changes – you would just need to reassign the individual to their new den (e.g. Tiger to Wolf) rather than having to have the Chartered Org Rep do a position change first and then assign to the new den.

Important Update for PARENTS/GUARDIANS in Scoutbook Plus

If you’re a parent or guardian not currently connected to your child in the National membership system, you will begin seeing warning messages in Scoutbook Plus.

Why it matters:

  • These connections must be validated by December 31, 2025
  • If not updated, your access will be limited, and you may not be able to complete registrations or renewals

What to do:

A pop-up message will provide step-by-step instructions to validate your relationship.

Range & Target Certifications Recorded

Good news - my.Scouting.org now allows for NRA and USA Archery certifications to be recorded in your my.Scouting profile! To be able to connect units interested in a Range program with certified instructors, we are asking anyone with an active certification to submit it so we can add it to your profile. Click the button to email your certifications, and we'll upload them!

"Ring the Bell" for Safety!

All adult leaders in the council are encouraged to take Incident Reduction and Reporting Training. This free, approx. 45-minute course provides an overview of our organization’s safety policies, resources, and reporting procedures. Six Zoom webinar sessions are being offered this fall – registration is required. Leaders who have previously completed this course don’t need to retake it to count for Ring the Bell recognition this year.
