The new training is mandatory for all registered adult volunteers and has been developed with insights from leading experts in child safety, law enforcement, and child psychology. It incorporates the latest strategies for recognizing, responding to, and preventing various forms of abuse, including emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.

The new SYT is to be renewed on an annual basis. Your existing Youth Protection Training remains valid until May 31, 2026, at which point the new Safeguarding Youth Training will be required.

New Cub Meeting Resources

Now, the official Scouting America pack resources page has been refreshed to reflect the latest program updates and to account for the wide variety of pack and den sizes common in Cub Scouting today.

The idea is to make planning a meeting as fun, simple and easy as the meeting itself.

Whether you have a giant pack or a tiny pack, the new Cub Scout pack meeting resource page is for you.

STEM/NOVA Update

This change took effect on June 1, 2025. With this change, NOVA and SuperNOVA counselors and awards will no longer be added to ScoutBook.

In the fall, our council's STEM committee will provide more information on the initiatives we will undertake to continue STEM education in the Cradle of Liberty. Visit scoutingphilly.org/STEM for updated information in the fall of 2025.

Reminder - Range & Target Activities Policies

Beginning September 1, there are several policy changes regarding how Scouts can participate in Range and Target Activities (formerly called Shooting Sports) within the Scouting program. It is important to review the changes to be sure your unit is following the new policies.

While there are limited changes at the Cub Scout level, unit leaders in Troops, Crews, Ships, and Posts should review the changes before your next shooting sports activity is planned.
