MOSCOW 57 CELEBRATES THE LES HISTORY FENCE
CREATED BY CONSTANTIN BOYM AND LAURENE LEON BOYM
 THE PARTY
Moscow 57 a new Russian Central Asian restaurant with live music nightly is excited to host a special party. We're celebrating our newest neighbors: those depicted in the 400-foot long LES History Fence, created by Constantin Boym & Laurene Leon Boym. The 400+ foot long artwork is located across the street from Moscow 57 on the south side of Delancey, between Norfolk and Clinton St. The official opening of the installation is Wednesday, July 2
nd, at 5:30pm, and the celebration at Moscow 57 will be immediately following from 7:00 - 9:00pm.

THE ART
The LES History Fence began as a community-wide open call competition to design temporary artwork that would stretch along 400+ linear feet of chain link fence that borders the public parking lots along Delancey Street from Norfolk to Clinton Streets. Constantin and Laurene Boym have resided and worked in the LES for two decades.
Through the temporary installation, the designers wanted to send "a positive message about the surrounding communities incredible diversity - historically as well as today."

After winning the neighborhood-wide competition for LES History Fence, sponsored by the Lower East Side Business Improvement District, the Boyms developed nine additional local types to create the final artwork. The installation pays homage to generations of Loisaida residents, depicted in wall murals by artists and collectives in the neighborhood.

THE DESIGNERS   The Boyms' have been telling neighborhood stories for the past 7 years with the fictional illustrated characters Babel Blocks. The Babel Blocks first appeared as a set of wood educational toys and stop-motion animation films in 2007. The toys and films are now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, NYC.

Constantin and Laurene Boym run Boym Partners, Inc., a New York-based design studio established in 1986. Boym Partners designs products such as tableware for Alessi and Authentics, watches for Swatch, lighting for Flos, showrooms and retail displays for Vitra, and exhibitions for Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York, and Museum of the City of New York. Objects designed by Boym Partners are included in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The Boym Partners are Winners of the National Design Award from the White House.

THE HOST

Moscow 57, the hospitality and entertainment company, was launched several years ago by partners Ellen Kaye, Seth Goldman and Ethan Fein. Moscow 57 has made New Orleans a home away from home, with regular forays into that city's world-renowned culture of Southern hospitality, regional cuisine, and world-class entertainment. After performing at and co-producing events with New York's Corcho Wine Room, as well as celebrating Latin American culture in New Orleans, this cosmopolitan attitude is being brought to Moscow 57's permanent home on New York City's Lower East Side every night.

Moscow 57 Entertaining is developing projects for film, television and theater. Its music company produces podcasts, live performances, recordings and videos. Moscow 57's first CD releases have already garnered national radio airplay, and the company's videos can be seen on the Moscow 57 Entertaining YouTube channel. The company's M57 podcast will be streaming live on Sunday nights.

The company is an ongoing supporter of a wide variety of charitable events, including Holiday House NYC, The New York Women's Foundation and The New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation.
