ANSWER TO QUIZ
Let’s start with the painful truth . . .
The only way to enter into the full glory and splendor of the Beatific Vision,
thus seeing God face to face, being in perfect communion with Him, is to be forgiven of every sin
AND
to be purified of every attachment to sin.
This is a glorious invitation and a demanding endeavor!
Purgation of all sin and attachment to sin is not optional.
Only when perfect in every way are we ready to enter
the Divine Union, the Mystical Marriage.
Consider:
If you are attached to even the smallest imperfection,
it cannot enter into the presence of God - so neither can you.
God is all holy and pure love - He wants you in union with Him,
but sin would sully the goodness for everyone
- He will not accept your sinful attachments.
The first step is the easy part - Forgiveness!
God, in His mercy, always forgives us of our sins
IF we are sorry and ask for forgiveness.
The second step is to become completely detached
from all remnants of sin.
If you are critical of others in speech and you confess this,
you are assured forgiveness of this, but...
Are you purified of the “attachment” or
do you still yield to that disordered tendency to be critical.
Unlike a temptation, an attachment is more of
a habit you voluntarily formed.
Purgation is the process of breaking every sinful habit you have and detaching from all habitual sins and even imperfections
so that you can be attached to God and His holy will alone.
Purgatory refers to the purification process of all attachments
we have when we die.
Ideally, we complete our purification here on Earth, before death,
so as to enjoy Divine Union here and now - not only in Heaven.
But if not, Purgatory will complete this process after death.
Rather than a gloomy thought - it's the homestretch and you KNOW you will cross the finish line.
It’s a beautiful gift when understood and embraced!
