It's official! The Hydrography Concentration for graduate students in the USF College of Marine Science is now available for enrollment.
Some research themes within this focus area include techniques for mapping shallow seafloor regions to monitor the health of benthic communities, looking at temporal variations of coastal bedforms, processing and displaying multiple hydrographic data types for scientific and public use, as well as testing new equipment and innovative techniques in hydrography.
Professional Development Opportunities
We partnered with QPS for the second year in a row to offer a software training course at our home base in St. Petersburg, FL. From August 8-12, students and staff enjoyed an intensive week of learning about sonar data processing and the visualization options part of the QPS suite.
We extend tremendous gratitude to our partners R2Sonic and Seatrac who provided a live demonstration of data collection during the course. Participants were not only treated to the demo, but were then able to use the freshly collected dataset to practice and hone their newly learned software skills.
Mark your calendars early! August will remain our target timeframe for future professional development and training courseseach summer. There will be opportunities for external participants. The 2023 course is TBD.
We are co-hosting the next US-based multibeam course alongside USF College of Marine Science and the Florida Institute of Oceanography. Registration is now live and there is limited space available!
