Get Up & Go: Empowering Healthy Lifestyles in Our Community

This year, we're celebrating impressive outcomes from our community’s commitment to health in our Get Up & Go program:

  • BCQ boosted by 85.22%
  • BMI down by 46.34%
  • Z Score dropped by 61.79%
  • BMI percentile decreased by 56.91%
  • Pacer scores surged by 71%

FIT For Health: Empowering Families, Transforming Lives

Through the FIT For Health program, 174 participants achieved incredible milestones:


  • 78% of children reduced BMI from the 85th percentile or higher.
  • 61% increased daily fruit and vegetable servings.
  • 57% improved fitness with better PACER scores.


Thank you to Dallas County Health and Human Services for providing 44,000 in grant funding and incentives during 2024.

Cooking Classes & Demos: Healthy Habits Take Root

This year, our cooking classes and demos brought healthy eating to life! With 78 participants completing our 4-week cooking classes and 462 more joining cooking demos, the results are cooking up success:


  • 66% of children and adults improved their healthy eating scores after the classes.
  • "Food is Medicine" partnerships with local food pantries continue to inspire, teaching families to create meals with what they receive.
  • School-based cooking demos (SAS) engage students with hands-on learning.


Together, we're turning education into action for healthier families and communities.

Sprouts Tour: Fresh Steps to Healthy Living

  • Sprouts served 175 community members with fresh, healthy options and resources to nourish both body and mind.
  • 81% of participants now feel more confident making healthier choices at the grocery store, empowering change, one cart at a time.
 

Kamp K'aana: A Journey Toward Health and Wellness

Kamp K'aana continues to empower youth. Results were impressive

  • 12 campers experienced an average weight loss of 7.4 pounds.
  • BMI decrease of 3.3 percent.
  • While survey scores improved by 7%.


The real victory lies in the lasting impact of healthy habits that campers are taking home with them. Here's to progress, growth, and new beginnings in health! Registration is now open for summer 2025.

Blood Pressure Self Monitoring: Taking Control for Better Health

Our Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring program reached 141 participants,

  •  48% of participants who started the program with uncontrolled blood pressure had a controlled reading at the end of the program.
  • On average, participants saw a 5.39-point reduction in systolic blood pressure, demonstrating the power of self-care in managing heart health.

Diabetes Prevention: Prevention Matters

The Diabetes Prevention Program has successfully started 6 cohorts with 50 participants, thanks to the generous support of DCHHS and local health partners. Remarkably,

  • 90% of participants attended over 9 sessions.
  • 13% have lost 7% weight loss.
  • 22% have lost 5% weight loss.
  • Participants averaged 265 minutes of physical activity per week

The program continues to make a meaningful impact on our community, supported by Methodist referrals and the DFW Hospital Grant, helping individuals take charge of their health for a brighter future. Participants were given a full scholarship by DCHHS.
