NEW DASHBOARD SHOWS STRENGTHS AND
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT FOR DUBLIN SCHOOLS
The State Department of Education released its latest California School Dashboard for schools across the state today, and Dublin Unified's Dashboard continues to show the strength of our schools' performance in key academic measures, such English Language Arts, Mathematics and graduation rates as well as areas for improvement and examination.
The California Dashboard initially debuted last spring as a field-test, as part of the State's new system to measure school accountability. The Dashboard replaces the former API measure. This fall, Dashboard data was updated to including the 2016-17 school year data and (state testing) assessments and is now ready for full implementation. In the future, the Dashboard will be rolled out annually in the fall.
Individual school dashboards are also available at this link.
Dashboard results, which represent a comprehensive view of multiple measures of student data, show that the District continues to excel in overall student academic achievement and illustrates areas of growth that still need to be addressed, particularly in the area of student discipline.
The District continues to be review, assess and implement solutions related to the data compiled around suspensions, particularly among specific student populations. District leadership and site leaders are examining the data and making alterations to disciplinary practices, emphasizing restorative justice policies.
The information reflected in the Dashboard informs our work as a District going forward, including the development of our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) at the district-level and the Single Plans for Student Achievement (SPSAs) at the school sites. We continue to work with district leadership and school site leaders to best align our resources and priorities.
Dublin Unified is committed to assuring that all of our students are prepared for college and career and we are confident that our community will find this Dashboard to be an informative tool in guiding us to achieve that goal.
The California School Dashboard, features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of school success, including test scores, graduation rates, English Learner progress and suspension rates for every District and school in the state. The Dashboard is part of California's new accountability system based on 2013's Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). It is the next step in a series of major shifts in public education that have raised the bar for student learning, transformed testing and placed a focus on equity for all students.
