"Christianity is not so much a series of propositions about God as it is the communication of the intimate knowledge that Jesus had of Who God Is. The Christian religion is the transmission of that experience of Ultimate Reality as Abba, Jesus’ endearing Aramaic word for Father."
– Thomas Keating
In this first installment of a 3-part series, we will look at the Gospel as sharing in Jesus’ experience of God and what that means for contemplative living today. We will look at the context of empire and religion and how Jesus’ experience of God transcends and critiques both. We will reflect on Jesus’ proclamation of the kingdom of heaven, the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus’ meals with sinners.
The morning will include three 30 minute periods of centering prayer and an interactive discussion.
