Connect is the monthly newsletter that shares stories of God's work in and through All Saints Church. We are in the season of Eastertide! The church calendar gives us 50 days to celebrate Easter, from Easter Sunday to Pentecost (this year Pentecost is on May 24).

In this issue we share Easter joy

  • We are All Saints: An interview with Violet, a 6-year-old All Saints parishioner who likes to sing Alleluias!
  • From Sunday to every day: Seeking peace in a divided world.
  • Mission and Outreach: Thank you for your support of our "Call to Love" for mission and outreach.
  • Around All Saints: Photos of sharing Christ's love in Holy Week and Easter!

WE ARE ALL SAINTS

Meet Violet Walker

Violet Walker is six years old and an active member at All Saints! You can find her in Sunday school, Children's Chapel, and in the children's choir. Violet participated in the communion class this year, and it was wonderful for our parish family to celebrate with her at her first communion in April!

FROM SUNDAY TO EVERYDAY

Christian Formation & practices for faith at home

Jesus said: "Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they shall be called children of God"

How can we be peacemakers in a divided world?

In our Christian Conversations forum each Sunday, parishioners sit in a circle and discuss-- how can we bridge divisions in our homes, families, neighborhoods, politics, and in the church?

What does it mean to be at peace?

The word "peace" can refer to the absence of conflict, but it also points to the presence of something better in its place. True peace is taking what is broken and restoring it to wholeness.

A video on peace from the Bible Project gives this context: "Paul instructed local churches to keep their unity through the bond of peace, which requires humility and patience and bearing with others in love. Becoming people of peace means participating in the life of Jesus, who reconciled all things in heaven and earth, restoring peace through his death and resurrection. So peace takes a lot of work because it’s not just the absence of conflict. True peace requires taking what’s broken and restoring it to wholeness, whether it’s in our lives, our relationships, or in our world." (Ephesians 4:2-3 11, Colossians 1:2)

How can we at All Saints build peace?

Unity and peace in the midst of differences can be a strength and powerful witness of the church.

At a recent Christian Conversations forum, we explored what it means to bridge divisions in a politically charged world. Parishioners who work in politics shared how they practice faithful listening: seeking the person behind the position and approaching each conversation as an opportunity to learn.

Several parishioners shared that Wednesday night dinners at All Saints (6 pm each week) have become a life-giving rhythm. In the midst of demanding schedules, this simple gathering offers respite and a midweek reset. Around the table, conversation slows. They may find themself sitting with someone who is not entangled in the bustle and grind of their work week, someone with a different perspective, and in that space, discover a shared grounding in Christ.

Our politics are not our creed. Our shared life in Christ is. And in that shared life, love for one another has the power to transcend every divide.

How can I learn more and pursue peace?

MISSION AND OUTREACH

Called to Love: Thank you!

Thank you for your generous support of our Mission & Outreach fund during Lent, Holy Week, Easter Sunday, and for supporting our food drive! Your giving helps All Saints serve neighbors in need and partner in God’s work both locally and around the world.

During Lent, many of you gave sacrificially through the purple envelope campaign. In addition, all undesignated gifts and Easter envelope offerings from the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday services are directed entirely to mission and outreach. Together, we collected $32,794 for our Mission & Outreach fund—every dollar of which is sent outward to support these ministries, with none used for All Saints’ operating expenses.

These funds will strengthen and expand the work of our local and global partners as they address systemic poverty and hunger.Your generosity will be multiplied to bring life and health, both spiritually and physically, to many near and far. Thank you for giving!

All Saints Mission & Outreach ministries gratefully welcome donations throughout the year. If you would like to learn more, please contact our Director of Mission and Outreach, Shireen David

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,"- Matthew 25:35

SHARING CHRIST'S LOVE

Holy Week and Easter at All Saints!

During Holy Week, we entered the mystery of Christ's passion, death and resurrection together-- waving palms, washing feet, walking the Stations of the Cross, gathering in the darkness of the Easter Vigil to behold the light of Christ, and lifting our voices in joyful Alleluias on Easter.

From Palm Sunday through Easter, more than 1,650 people joined us for in-person worship at All Saints, with over 200 more participating via livestream.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this holy time so meaningful. We are grateful for the many ways you served and your faithful presence in prayer, song, and worship. (not to mention the Easter egg hunt!)

Easter is not just a day, but a season of joy. We invite you to continue celebrating the resurrection with us throughout the Easter season and beyond at All Saints.

So many good things are happening at All Saints! Check your Friday email, All Things All Saints, for upcoming services and events. Or check our parish calendar HERE.
