CONNECT
with what's happening around
Metropolitan Community Church
Earlier this year we made the bold decision to proactively seek to connect with people who are not aware of MCC, our rich history, all that we stand for, and all that we do!  This "marketing" campaign represents the importance of listening, it acknowledges the needs and perspectives of others, and it embraces our core value of "inclusion" by showing a welcome to others no matter who they are, where they are from, and no matter what stage they are in on their own faith journey.

The results of our decision are now a reality, and we are proud to announce that we have launched the hallmark of stage 1 of the "We're Seeking You!" external marketing campaign: the "We're Seeking You!" website. While this particular website was intentionally not created for our own MCC family, we hope you may visit the site over the next few days. We also hope you may offer us your feedback as you place yourself in the mindset of the first timers and outside guests who will be visiting this site. Finally, we hope all of you will join us as we share and announce this campaign to the hundreds of thousands of people who currently reside beyond our own MCC communities and are already open and willing to learn about us.
Click on the link below to visit a landing page designed exclusively for you. It is your unique starting point to explore the "We're Seeking You!" website and it contains all the information and links you may need.

Please join us in helping the world to hear these three simple, yet powerful, words from MCC....We're Seeking You!
What Time Is It?
Daylight Savings Time is ending in many places. For Germany and Great Britain, it ended on Sunday, October 25th. For the United States and Canada, it ends Sunday, November 1st. Be careful with calculating times between countries this week and next!

UTC stands for Universal Time Coordination. It is the measure for global time but is not a time zone itself. GMT, Greenich Mean or Meridian Time is the time zone. GMT and UTC are the same time. Other time zones are UTC + or - hours. So EDT is UTC-4 but EST will be UTC-5. UTC does not change while other time zones may switch to daylight savings or back to standard.

Just to add to the mix, the S in USA time zones is for Standard: ex. EST Eastern Standard Time. The S in BST is British Summer Time!
Know your time zones especially at this time of year and FALL BACK if necessary!
COVID-19 numbers of infections and deaths continue to rise around the world. Please be aware of the rates in your area. Take all the recommended precautions to care for yourself and your congregation. MCC Staff are available to support you and resource you during these challenging times. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Día de los Muertos
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is not a Mexican version of Halloween. This is an explosion of colour and joy demonstrating love and respect for those family members who have died. Some say this dates from pre-Hispanic cultures such as the Aztec and Toltec while other scholars trace its roots to Spain. The celebration keeps the dead alive in memory and as part of the community. The modern celebration combines the cultural rites and the Christian (Catholic) practice of All Saints Day and All Souls Day (November 1 & 2). The spirits of the dead are invoked to be present with us and honored.

Pastor Appreciation Month
Many places observe October as Pastor Appreciation Month. During COVID-19, our Pastors have worked extra hard to keep us safe, cared for and connected. Many Pastors have worked long hours alongside volunteers (and some alone) learning to adapt worship to a virtual environment. This is an opportunity to express your gratitude and say thanks. Send your Pastor a card or a gift. There are many ways to show a little love and appreciation to your Pastor(s). Think about how your church, how YOU might honor your Pastor(s) this October.
