Today we give You special thanks for your unfailing love, care, and concern for the descendants of enslaved Africana people.
We remember and lift up all the souls who were forcibly taken from Africa, taken from their families and tribes and villages and lands.

We remember and lift up all the souls who chose the Atlantic Ocean as their grave instead of enslavement in an unknown land.

We remember and lift up all the souls who arrived and survived on other shores even as their humanity was denied, their bodies were abused, and their labor was exploited. ...

It's PRIDE MONTH in many places in the world.
THANK YOU
REV. ELDER TROY PERRY
for starting MCC and being the
Co-Founder of the first Pride Parade.

INTRODUCING...
MINISTRY HUBS
Our Moderator, Rev. Ceclia, came up with the concept of Ministry Hubs. Hubs can be defined as a center of activity or focal point. In this case the hub is a ministry program or activity that various congregations are connected to like spokes on the hub of a wheel.

The purpose of a Ministry Hub is two fold:
  • to provide an opportunity to showcase the good ministry being done within MCC in this ministry area and;
  • to provide an opportunity for other congregations that might be interested in doing this type of ministry to gather information or resources.
The format will include a live virtual presentation followed by discussion. Hub will be recorded and added to the resource bank for later access by those who are not able to participate live.

The ministry area focused on in our first Ministry Hub is Children and Youth Ministry. If you have ideas for other ministries that you would like to be showcased or are seeking resources for contact Rev. Dexter Brecht, Church Support and Development Coordinator. RevDexterBrecht@MCCchurch.net

Starts June 23rd
Since 2020, Beloved Arise has hosted Queer Youth of Faith Day -- a day to celebrate LGBTQ+ youth from across faith traditions. This annual event is held on June 30th (the last day of PRIDE month).

What is planned for Queer Youth of Faith Day 2023?

Multi-Faith Day of Prayer - Beloved Arise, in partnership with spiritual leaders from across faith traditions, including MCC, is calling for a multi-faith day of prayer for LGBTQ+ youth. Our hope is to inspire 1.8 million people to join us in praying for the safety, well-being, and flourishing of LGBTQ+ youth.

Virtual Prayer Gathering - Beloved Arise will host a virtual multi-faith prayer gathering on June 30th. Faith leaders from across religious traditions will be invited to lead us in prayer. LGBTQ+ youth will have the opportunity to submit prayer requests ahead of time.

What are we praying for specifically?
LGBTQ+ youth are some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. They struggle with depression, anxiety, self-harm, and homelessness at significantly higher rates than their straight and cis-gender peers. We believe every young life matters and deserves unconditional love.

Therefore, we are joining together on June 30th to lift up LGBTQ+ youth and pray for their...
  • Safety - May LGBTQ+ youth be protected from harm. May they live in peace, free from threats of violence and abuse. May those facing the harsh realities of homelessness find safety and shelter.
  • Well-being - May LGBTQ+ youth who struggle with depression, anxiety, and self-harm find access to the services and support they need to get better.
  • Flourishing - May LGBTQ+ youth find their path to wholeness and joy and live life to the fullest.
