COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. These vaccines are currently being distributed in Washington state. It's more important than ever to continue to wear masks and get vaccinated.

This Week's Topic of Inspiration: Mental Health Support in Business
1. It's a New Era for Mental Health at Work: One silver lining amid all the disruption and trauma [of the pandemic, etc.] is the normalization of mental health challenges at work. In 2019, employers were just starting to grasp the prevalence of these challenges, the need to address stigma, and the emerging link to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). In 2020, mental health support went from a nice-to-have to a true business imperative. Fast forward to 2021, and the stakes have been raised even higher thanks to a greater awareness of the workplace factors that can contribute to poor mental health, as well as heightened urgency around its intersections with DEI. Although employers have responded with initiatives like mental health days or weeks, four-day workweeks, and enhanced counseling benefits or apps, they're not enough. Employees need and expect sustainable and mentally healthy workplaces, which requires taking on the real work of culture change. Click here to read more. (Source: Harvard Business Review)
2. Navigating Postpartum Depression at Work: Postpartum Depression is the number one complication of childbearing. While 14% of women suffer, it is treatable. PPD is managed through a three-legged approach of therapy, medication and peer support. There simply is no one-size-fits-all approach to addressing the spectrum of PPD. But making investments in your own postpartum physical and mental health are also investments in your career and your well-being as a new mother and as a woman. Click here for methods that will help you create a sense of confidence as a working parent and serve as a reminder that, despite the challenge of the moment, this too shall pass. 3. Podcast - Even Public Figures Have Social Anxiety: How New York Times Bestselling Author Lindsey Pollak Maintains a Public Speaking Career While Dealing with Anxiety: Podcast host Morra Aarons-Mele speaks with business leaders who have dealt with anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges, how they fell down, how they picked themselves up, and how they hope workplaces can change in the future. In this episode, she talks with author Lindsey Pollak about how she maintains a public life while dealing with anxiety, and why she's finally opening up about it. Click here to listen.
