The Rural Islands Economic Partnership (RIEP) leads, inspires, and cultivates sustainable economic resilience and community well-being through collaborative initiatives and partnerships for the benefit of BC's rural islands and the Indigenous Communities who have traditional or reserve lands on these islands.
January 2022 Is RIEP's Two-Year Anniversary
Over the past two years, we've rallied, even as Covid continued to shape the 'new normal'. Through these times and onward we are proud to have been able to build, plan, pivot, and collaborate to deliver a successful RIEP Forum, introduce the Forum Network's Connection Café, launch Rising Tide Business Services, and build membership.

Moving into 2022, we will together continue to leverage our collective power to recover and thrive beyond Covid, to celebrate and sustain the creative economic fabric of our rural island communities.

Across the Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities of BC’s rural islands – from Cortes, Denman and Hornby, to Gabriola, Pender, and Salt Spring, to Bowen, Cormorant, Quadra, Malcolm, and beyond, these islands have long been home to unique, vibrant, and creative arts communities.

The artists and artisans of these communities are cultural leaders as well as contributors to the ongoing economic vitality of their individual islands. Most often reflected in inspirational and innovative programming for residents and visitors alike –such as the Salt Spring National Arts Prize & Exhibition; the Malcolm Island-based BC Movement Arts Society; the Hearth on Bowen, the Ptarmigan Arts Society of Pender, the U’Mista Cultural Centre of Cormorant Island, and the soon-to-be opened Hornby Arts Centre.
