A message from Pastor Charlie:
Last week, Covenant was a noisy place. It was the second of three week-long sessions of Madison Girls Rock Camp. All week, girls were writing and practicing songs, playing guitars, drums, keyboards and more. It was loud, and it was great. Next week is the final week. (In the photo, that’s Covenant’s own Catherine M. at the mic, from week one.)
Last Saturday, Covenant was a restful place. Dozens of cyclists taking part in "Journey of Hope" slept in Bradfield Hall and appreciated the shower downstairs (did you know we have a shower room?). “Journey of Hope” is riding across the country raising money for people with disabilities. (Photo from a stop in Nebraska.)
This week Covenant is a dark place, as we are replacing ballasts and bulbs in Bradfield Hall, kitchen, and the church office with LEDs to be more environmentally healthy and energy efficient.
I’m glad we can provide space for Girls Rock and Journey of Hope and many other folks doing good work to make this world a better place. And I’m grateful for all the volunteers who work hard to keep our building in good shape, and for all the generous people who provide funds to support our building. And I’m grateful for our Church Administrator Bailey Green, who manages dozens of building users and church functions.
Yes, I know the church is more than a building. We are called to be the church in the world, to share God’s love with our words, our deeds, and our lives. But the building at the corner of Mineral Point and Segoe Roads is very helpful toward that end.
On Sundays, and through the week, my hope is that Covenant is also a place of peace, renewal, and energy, as together we continue to learn God’s love and then go forth to live God’s love.

On the journey together,
Charlie

This is the final week of our summer sermon series during which we explored how God speaks to us through “secular” music. We hope you’ve heard God speak through these artists and that you’ll continue to listen to the radio in a new way. Our sermon series playlist will always be available on our YouTube page.
ALSO... Let's keep the playlist going! What “secular” songs does God speak to you through? We invite you to be a Spotify collaborator – add a song to our "Post PLAYLIST Playlist," as we continue to listen for how God speaks to us through music. Click on the button below to get started!

For Children's Time, we are returning to inviting the kids up on the chancel steps instead of having them sit in the front pews. If you are uncomfortable with this change, please reach out to Pastor Megan or the Children's & Youth Committee.
Note: There is NO Kaleidoscope Kids this Sunday.
Join Pastors Jess and Charlie for conversation about this fascinating new book. Blending personal stories, Bible study, and contemporary issues, Jim Wallis challenges us to learn about our world and stand up for God’s love. The gathering will last for one hour, and there will be snacks. Feel free to come even if you haven’t finished the book! Visit the event page here.
About 20 Covenant people joined hundreds of others on July 20 to run, walk, and bike while raising money for the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. Together, we raised over $6200 to help kids in our community get education, recreation, nutrition, and more. Thank you for your support!
New this week:
Chris Hughes, nephew of Peter Hughes
Loving God, in your mercy, hear our prayers for each of these your children. We pray for healing, for courage, and for peace, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
