Good things are happening at Covenant Presbyterian Church!

Our “Good News From the Pews” sermon series started last week, with an inspired sermon by Melissa Schmidt. Watch it, or read it, or listen to it.

About 100 people enjoyed food, music, and bingo at our Guatemala Fiesta last week. Click on the photo to see more.

- Six of 13 participants of our upcoming mission trip are teenagers. I’m the only one who has previously been to Guatemala with a Covenant group.

A group of about 35 Covenant people saw “Our Town” (featuring Covenant member Sarah Day) last Sunday at American Players Theater. Click on photo to see more.

- We had a cookie party with music at Oakwood this week, with about 15 residents along with pastoral care staff (Melissa, Donna, and me). We have a similar party at Attic Angel next week. Click on photo to see more.

This weekend is Handbell Weekend, with a workshop and concert on Saturday (more info below), and special bell music on Sunday morning

In the midst of all these good things, we have a congregational meeting on Sunday, for the sole purpose of voting on the unanimous recommendation of the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee, that Rev. Megan Berry become our Associate Pastor, with focus on children and youth ministry.
We revised our staffing model and our plan is to have two Associate Pastors. Megan would focus on children and youth. The other AP would focus on mission and adult formation. The APNC is continuing to seek the other pastor. I wrote about the details of the process in a recent CONNECTIONS.
| |
If you’re not able to be in the sanctuary, we hope you can join us online, both for worship, when Megan will be offering the sermon, and via Zoom during the congregational meeting following worship. Zoom link is below and will be in Sunday email.
I’m encouraged by these good things and I’m excited about our next steps as God’s people.
|
On the journey together,
Charlie

The Session has called for a congregational meeting this Sunday immediately following 9:30 worship for the sole purpose of voting on a unanimous recommendation of the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee and the Children & Youth Ministry Coordinator Search Committee to approve Rev. Megan Berry as our Associate Pastor for Children, Youth & Families. Megan will be directing and coordinating our children’s and youth ministries, along with other pastoral responsibilities. As is standard protocol, we will meet as a congregation to vote on the APNC's recommendation and to approve the terms of call.
