Greetings!
Do you need a make-up assignment?

Or are you interested in extra credit?

We are inviting everyone to engage with prayer and scripture this summer in our “Summer School” initiative. If you haven’t gotten started yet, or if you’re hungering for a little bit more, here are three quick suggestions.
1) Memory Verse. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,” says Colossians 3:16. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” says Psalm 119:105. This coming Sunday is our fourth memory verse. Pick one of these and ponder it for today.
2) Gratitude Walk. It’s cooling off and the forecast is good for the next several days. Spend five minutes outside, with no earbuds or phone. Just look around. Listen for the birds. Enjoy the green trees, the blue sky, the gentle breeze. If walking isn’t your thing, just look out the window…. Slowly say, “thank you God for the gift of today.”
3) One person. Jesus calls us to love one another (John 13:34). Paul calls us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Think about one person—family, friend, neighbor, co-worker. Pray: “Dear God, please bless _______ and help me to be a blessing to them.” Pay attention for the opportunity to be an answer to your own prayer.
Summer School runs through the end of August. Let’s make good use of the time to grow deeper and stronger in faith!

On the journey together,
Charlie
P.S. - We have a new book in the church library. The Right Thing to Do: Kit Sanders-Nordeen and the Rise of Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Wisconsin and Beyond by Doug Moe. Kit was the first director of women’s college athletics in 1974 just two years after Title IX gender equity legislation passed. Kit and her husband Buzz were members of Covenant; I’m glad I got to know both of them before they died in the past few years. Author Doug Moe spoke at the Downtown Rotary this week, and I got an autographed copy for the library. Learn more HERE!

Our Guest Preacher

On Sunday, we welcome Rev. Breanna Illéné to the pulpit. Breanna is the Curator of Content and Ecumenical Innovation Coordinator at the Wisconsin Council of Churches, where her role includes communications; identifying, celebrating and sharing innovative ministries (particularly those involving ecumenical cooperation); building strategic relationships and broadening opportunities for ecumenical engagement. She has an MA in Social Justice (Loyola University-Chicago), an MA in Christian Education (Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary) and an MDiv (Iliff School of Theology) and is a commissioned elder in the United Methodist Church. Breanna lives on the east side with her spouse, Andrew, 1-year-old son, Ngnédji, and doggo, Ira.
THIS SUNDAY!!

Join family and friends from the church for a stroll along Ice Age Trail - Table Bluff Segment in Cross Plains. The trailhead and Covenant rally point will be the parking lot at the end of Scheele Rd. in Cross Plains. There will be steps at the trail, for those who rely on them. These Spiritual Strolls are part of a Covenant program called CONNECT.

CONNECT is a program of events sponsored by the deacons of Covenant Presbyterian Church with the intention of fostering connection within the congregation and community.
"They welcomed us onto their land, extending trust that had been betrayed so so so many times before."

What do sitting shiva, a Native American reservation, and an ecumenical Christian community in France all have in common? Muse with Derek this week in this week's edition of #MidweekMusings. It's a 3-minute read, and you're always welcome to continue the conversation on our blog or here on Facebook. Click on image above.

Midweek Musings is a weekly Covenant blog with a variety of authors and spiritual topics. Feel free to leave a comment as you are moved. We hope that it blesses you this week and the weeks to come.
