Greetings!
"Never stop improving" is the slogan of a certain home supply chain store.
It could also be a theme for the Reformation.
In our Book of Order (part of the Presbyterian constitution) we read:
The church affirms Ecclesia reformata, semper reformanda secundum verbum Dei, that is, “The church reformed, always to be reformed according to the Word of God.”
Book of Order, F-2.03
We are called to continual reformation, continual improvement, continual growth in faith, hope, and love.
The last Sunday of October is Reformation Sunday. In worship this week, we'll sing Martin Luther's classic Reformation hymn, "A Mighty Fortress is our God" which affirms the sovereignty of God. (See info below.)
Just a couple years after Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the church door in 1517, fellow reformer Ulrich Zwingli got sick from a plague which devastated Europe. In his home of Zurich, 25-50% of the population died from the plague, including Zwingli's brother.
In response to the plague, Zwingli wrote a hymn. Click on his image to read about "'Lord God, Help in this Trouble': The Plague Song of Ulrich Zwingli" from the Presbyterian Historical Society.

In the midst of our current COVID plague or anytime, we are called as a church and as a people to love our neighbors and to continual reformation, change, improvement--according to the word of God.
We need to keep reading our Bibles, saying our prayers, staying open to new things, caring for each other, and listening for God's call.

On the journey, apart but together,
Charlie
