Hello, Bailey-

Sunday is our last Sunday in our Acts: Transformative Community series.

As I reread Acts in April, I confess, I would get a little bogged down in the repetition of travels and community. It seems like a fast read, but when I read it fast, I miss all the details and nuances – the big important things like early discernment and the formation of deacons, the way the word spread and the difference it makes in people’s lives.

The early church was by no means a perfect place, but it embraced prayer and witnessing to the word of God both in the midst of harmony and in the midst of dispute. The members of early church called people to a new way of life and community, one that eschewed human power and control, and sought always after the heart of God, rending all power to God’s Spirit.

And it changed the world.

Will it change us? Will we pursue God in such a way that we, too, will change the world for the better? Come hear how the early church turned the world upside down – come hear how God turns our own lives upside down in some of the most beautiful ways.

See you Sunday,

Jess
