Tuesday was a sad day for me.
My daily WORDLE streak ended at 190, when I got stumped by the word JOKER.
WORDLE is an online game where you try to guess a five-letter word in six tries. If you have the correct letter in the wrong space, it’s yellow. If you have the correct letter in the right space, it’s green.

I didn't get a screenshot of that puzzle (I guess I was too sad) but I do have one from last week, a puzzle that almost stumped me. See above. After four turns, all I had was an A in the right place and a Y in the wrong place. But I got it on the next guess. Can you figure out what the word is? Answer is below. Click on the image to learn more about WORDLE. I started again Wednesday and I and now I have a three-day streak going.
I also have a streak going with the YouVersion Bible app. For 57 days in a row, I have looked at the Bible verse of the day. On a good day, I reflect on the verse and it guides me for the day. On a not-so-good day, I open the app just to keep the streak going.
The verse-of-the-day for Thursday, April 27 is from Matthew 7:24, which reminds us of the importance of hearing and applying God’s word in our daily living. Click on the verse image to learn more about the app.

I love The Message version of Thursday’s verse: These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25, The Message)
|
This verse inspires me to keep my Bible streak going, and more importantly to try to put God’s word into practice, to try to follow in the way of Jesus.
So in that spirit, since you’re reading this email on a computer, a tablet, or a phone, you have an internet connection, so I have an invitation for you: sign up for a Bible app and make the commitment to look at (and take to heart!) the verse of the day every day in the month of May.

|
I use YouVersion, but Bible Gateway is good. You can choose a translation and even set up reminders to read the Bible and pray. Click on either to learn more.
“A verse a day in the month of May.” I like the way that sounds.
I hope you join me in learning God's word, and I pray that God’s word strengthens our foundation of faith, hope, and love.

On the journey together,
Charlie

Join us Sunday at 10:00am for a class on the book of Revelation, led by Covenant member John Strikwerda. The book of Revelation is the last book in the Bible. John describes Revelation as an action movie with a poor plot but amazing special effects. “Experience it. Do not try to figure it out. It is as violent as any action movie ever made.” Join us this Sunday!

We're having a party!
Over the past three years during Covid, we’ve received several new members and we’ve had several baptisms. Too many of these special events happened over Zoom or in a mostly-empty sanctuary. We want a second chance to welcome these folks into the Covenant community, so we’ll have a beach-themed party. Feel free to wear beach clothes!
Cake will be served at 10:00 and we’ll provide lunch at 12:00. Donations for lunch are appreciated but not expected ($5 recommended), but new members and recent baptism families eat for FREE!
For the lunch, we're hoping to get ten desserts and ten salads, to go with the sandwich trays. Click below to sign up:
