The Second Phase of Heron Estates
Has Begun.
In the Background: Phase One.
The Work Continues. Everyday.
Heron Estates Family is that second phase, and it is 79 units of workforce-style, family townhouses. It is currently under construction on the same grounds as Heron Estates Senior, the 101-unit, three-story tower for senior citizens that we finished in August 2019. The current work is going well, but we're seeking skilled tradespeople and subcontractors to finish the $22 million project.
And We Need Skilled Workers.
One thing the Authority's leadership class always pushes is to ensure local skilled tradespeople get some of the work of Heron Estates, which was launched in 2018 and the first phase, Heron Estates Senior, was completed in August 2019. So, come. Find out if what you do is what we need. Questions? Call 561-845-7450 or send an email here. To learn more about doing business with the RBCRA, click here. And spread the word: the more work, the better.

Have You Seen It?
The City's relaunch of its quarterly print newsletter has happened and the City delivered it last week--including to Heron Estates Senior! The 16-pager is all about the City's story and, indeed, within two years of its launch in 2007, won a statewide 'Best in Category' award from the Print Association of Florida. Have you seen it? They're mailed to all Utility District addresses but the Heron Estates Property Management office has copies to share! The next edition will publish in March. To add your address to the mailing list, send an email here.

Chairman's Corner
On behalf of the Commissioners of the RBHA, I want to welcome our readers into 2021, and we are happy that you made the journey. With 2020 behind us, let’s be mindful to remember those we lost along the way. Let us also remember to lift up their families in prayer so that they receive the blessings needed to move forward in the journey of life. That said, the Board of Commissioners wants to remind everyone that, in spite of COVID-19, we are even more determined to achieve our number-one goal of creating affordable housing in the City of Riviera Beach. As you can see, we have recently broken ground on Phase 2 of the Heron Estates project at the old Ivey Green public housing site. We also welcome you to visit the site and ask the property management staff for a tour. In conclusion, as we move forward with our goals and objectives, we welcome your input and ideas.

He's A Dedicated Housing Professional
Commissioner Glen Spiritis has a long rich history in community development, urban planning and land use--most of it in New York. Indeed, he currently has development contracts with the Village of Hempstead, for example, even as he contributes hugely to the Authority. Just listen to his questions at Board Meetings: always deep. He has degrees in Urban & Environmental Studies--including a doctorate!--and a very strong desire to use his skills, knowledge and expertise to benefit the City he now serves. Indeed, Commissioner Spiritis has filed to run for the City Council District 4 seat in Riviera Beach, which represents Singer Island, where he lives. The municipal election date is March 9, 2021. But no matter what happens, he remains on the Team. Just ask him.

And the work they do every single day--with no pay!--is clear: community uplift. Whether it's the creation of affordable housing, the creation of needed projects or the creation of critical relationships, the Riviera Beach Housing Authority Board of Commissioners is definitely on the team. The community's team.
