In Western Civilization, opportunity abounds and it’s relatively easy to develop a dream for our life. However, in much of the world, including Malawi and Zimbabwe where Child Legacy’s mission is focused, the world and its possibilities can feel exponentially more limited.
Despite the reality of the major differences between cultures, every day we see hope overflowing from the hearts of people whom we are blessed to serve.
This is especially true in the lives of the children at the core of the CLI ministry.
At the Child Legacy School, the children are exposed to a world of hope for their future which they would otherwise be highly unlikely to encounter. Recently in their instruction, they were introduced to a variety of vocations they could pursue. Teacher Alice explains to the children what a profession is and, after sharing with them what some of those professions are, they were asked what they may like to do as they grow into adults with their own families.
Salome said, “When I grow up, I want to be a teacher. I want to help children learn how to read and write.”
Vision said, “When I grow up, I want to be a police officer. A police officer catches a thief!”
Takondwa said “When I grow up, I want to be a nurse. A nurse gives patients medicine.”
Teacher Alice shares, “CLI school children are so intelligent and smart. It is so fun to see them learn and grow. We thank you people in America for supporting this school.”
We are grateful for all of you that stand in the gap with us to make an enduring change in the lives of children like Salome, Vision, and Takondwa. Their experience shared here today is only a taste of the impact being made on them and the power of their newfound hope for the future.
