CORDATA COMMUNITY GARDEN NEWS
On Saturday, June 28th, twenty gardeners with partners and kids turned out to shovel, haul, and apread cedar chips at the Garden. It looks and smells great!
On Saturday, July 26, we will be having a pot luck at the Garden from noon to 1:30. Come out and share food, friendship and community with us.

Greg Hope (Education and Outreach Coordinator for the City of Bellingham) offers the following recommendations on protecting ourselves, our neighbors and our loved ones.
June 26 is the 4-year anniversary of the most recent extreme heat event in Bellingham. Thankfully, events of this kind do not strike every year, but every summer brings risk of heat injury for the most vulnerable members of our community, the very old, the very young, those with chronic medical conditions, and those who are pregnant. Whatcom County Health & Community Services provides guidance to keep yourself and those you care about safe and healthy during periods of high temperature. Please share MyHeatPlan.org in your circles and please check on individuals who live alone.

The attached article from Cascadia Daily News discusses Bellingham’s launch of a new online platform called the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program (NTSP), designed to collect public feedback on local traffic concerns such as speeding, reckless driving, and congestion. The platform allows residents to pinpoint problem areas on a city map and describe specific issues. This initiative follows a rise in traffic-related deaths and complaints, with the city aiming to prioritize safety projects based on community input and data. Officials hope the tool will help guide future traffic calming measures and infrastructure improvements.

A message from the Bellingham Bells:
As our 2025 season begins, we wanted to alert you and your neighbors that we plan to host five fireworks shows at Joe Martin Field during the 2025 season (June-August). We understand fireworks displays can be troublesome for some individuals and their animals who are sensitive to the noise resulting from these shows. Due to this concern, we wanted to let you know of the dates well in advance. It is our hopes we can alert as many individuals in advance as possible and mitigate the effects of avoid catching our neighbors by surprise.
2025 Fireworks Shows
June 4, July 5, July 16, July 18, August 6
All shows will begin immediately following the conclusion of our game, approximately 9:00 PM. Shows expected to last approximately 10 minutes.
