Bright Futures - Stuff the Bus
Stuff the Bus is coming in July and we need your help!
Volunteers are needed to help collect donations of school supplies at a local Walmart. These supplies will help CJ students who might not otherwise have the items they need to start school in August. Did you know that over 35% of Carl Junction students live at or below the poverty line?
We will be stuffing the bus on Friday, July 27   and Saturday, July 28 from 9-3.

This is a great opportunity for families to volunteer together. We are looking for 4-6 volunteers for each 1.5 hour shift. How you can help:

Time:  select a day and time that works for you, call to sign up, come to your shift to volunteer.
Talent:  Share this information with friends and encourage them to get involved.
Treasure:  If you aren’t free to volunteer on those days, please consider donating a few school supplies on our list or even making a monetary donation to this effort.

Rose Awarded Golden Lion
Austin Rose, senior at Carl Junction High School, has received the final Golden Lion Award for this school year.
Along with coursework, Austin also takes part in many clubs and activities and does volunteer work through them. One particular highlight, as Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America, he helped raise $9,000 for local breast cancer foundations. He also serves as an intern at the Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce.

After graduation, Rose has plans to attend Missouri Southern, entering into their Honors College to study Business.

The Golden Lion program selects a local junior or senior, who is nominated by a faculty or community member for notable enthusiasm in both their education and community service. Each month, a selected student receives a $1000 scholarship to Missouri Southern State University.
Storm Shelter Information
The storm shelter at the High School will be open for public use when NOAA issues Severe Thunderstorm Warnings or Tornado Warnings 24/7. The public entrance is on the southwest side near the main stadium entrance.
