Music Director Retires

After 13 years of music ministry at our parish, Music Director Jess Villante retired to spend more time with her family (pictured here with son Connor). St. John’s has been truly blessed to have Jess’s gifts in our church: Our worship was always enhanced with her beautiful violin solos, and she skillfully directed our choir in their twice-monthly anthems. Jess’s enthusiasm for music and our choir, as well as her sunny and positive outlook, will be much missed as part of our staff. (See Facebook for more pictures.)

The silver lining is that Jess and her son Connor will remain at St. John’s as worshiping parishioners! As Jess said in her farewell remarks, “All I’ll be doing is moving from the choir pews upfront to sitting with the rest of the congregation.”

Dear St. John’s,

Thank you very much for the retirement gift! It will be put towards our family in a few weeks. Thank you also for all of your friendship, care, love, and support over the last 13 (!!) years. I look forward to being a parishioner at St. John’s!

  Love,

     Jess

"Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when U.S. General Gordon Granger read General Orders No. 3 to the people of Galveston, Texas. He announced: “The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.” With this announcement, all enslaved people in the United States knew they were free." Gracious God,

We are especially grateful for the Fathers and Father figures in our lives. Hold them in your good care.

Give them patience, wisdom and strength, that through them their families may experience your unconditional love.

Bless those who long to be fathers and those for whom the day is difficult. Amen.
