MERCED COUNTY, CA – CAL FIRE is pleased to announce the inaugural graduation ceremony for Fire Control Class 25-15 at the new Atwater Training Center in Merced County. The ceremony will celebrate the successful completion of the intensive academy for 38 new Company Officers, marking a significant expansion of CAL FIRE’s statewide training capacity.
The Atwater Training Center, which began service on July 7, 2025, is CAL FIRE’s fourth training facility and directly supports the department's aggressive goal to train and promote fire service leaders. The 38 graduates bring the total number of new Company Officers trained by CAL FIRE to over 500 in 2025. The department is on pace to graduate over 650 Company Officers by the end of the year across all four training centers.
CAL FIRE Director/Fire Chief Joe Tyler will administer the oath and deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.
