Special Thanks to Ettinger Law Firm for Making Foreign Cinema Night Possible

About Foreign Cinema Night

Foreign Cinema Night is a monthly film evening featuring the latest international independent films, personally curated by freelance programmer Sahib Singh Bakshi.

It's an expansion of the first-run film offerings at the Cinema Arts Centre, featuring selections that are first showcased at prestigious film festivals, including Germany's Berlinale, France's Cannes, Switzerland's Locarno, Italy's Venice, Toronto's TIFF, and America's Sundance Film Festival.

Many of these films selected for the night are critic picks, festival jury prize winners, and even academy entries for Best International Picture. Some of the films are directorial debuts by newly discovered filmmakers.

A diverse variety of foreign films helps give us a wider view of the creative world at large and brings audiences on a journey with a range of countries, cultures, languages, and traditions. They encourage cinephiles to discover hidden gems, engage in stimulating discussions, and explore the boundaries of storytelling.

The ability to present a series like Foreign Cinema Night is essential to our mission. Sponsorship, such as the generous support provided by Ettinger Law Firm, empowers us to deliver these bold and unique choices to you in your independent community cinema and home-away-from-home. All of us offer our deepest gratitude to Cinema Members Michael and Suzanne Ettinger and Ettinger Law Firm.

About Ettinger Law Firm

(Excerpt from feature by Kiara Nash)

For over four decades, Ettinger Law Firm has been transforming the way legal services are provided to older adults.

Led by attorney Michael Ettinger, a recognized authority in elder law, the firm safeguards seniors’ rights and well-being through the pioneering concept of “elder law estate planning.” This distinctive approach integrates elder law and estate planning into a cohesive strategy that protects assets and ensures long-term care, financial security and peace of mind for seniors and their families.

The firm’s hallmark is its tailored legal solutions that focus on the social side of estate planning. It goes beyond legally protecting clients to assuring they understand the social and emotional repercussions these plans can have on their heirs.

“When you get into estate planning, you realize the estate can either bring the family together or tear it apart,” says Ettinger, president.

He emphasizes an approach designed to prevent conflicts between heirs and create a lasting legacy beyond financial distributions.

Ettinger’s style is deeply informed by his extensive expertise. He has authored several books and more than 200 articles that appeared in leading legal publications on elder law and estate planning. His commitment to creating a comfortable, judgment-free environment puts clients at ease. The trademarked estate planning process ensures that every aspect of a client’s plan is well-managed.

You Can Help Independent Filmmaking Happen on Long Island

Local filmmaker and sixteen-year Cinema Arts Centre member Daniel Moya (18½, Trigger Happy) is shooting his next movie, Old Soul, primarily in Huntington. He wrote the first draft of the script nearly a decade ago and considers it a dream come true to finally make the ‘hometown’ film. The production is looking for supporter housing for a few of their professional crew - two beds total. They’re also seeking catering partners; ideally, local establishments that are interested in helping a small local movie keep things local. All supporters are offered Special Thanks credits in the end credits! Please reach out to Rene to be connected to the team for more information. Thank you, Huntington!
