We live in a vibrant multi-cultural society that is the envy of the world. Our neighbors are from all over the planet, and this diversity is our strength as a community and as a country. This melting pot of cultures has enabled us to become one of the most creative and innovative places on earth.
This is not a new phenomenon. The first Asian immigrants came to California in 1948 -- long before many of us. They are more originally Californian than most of us living in the Bay Area today.
Walk-Bike Cupertino includes several Asian-American boardmembers and we are proud that they have joined us in our mission.
There is no justification for violence, racism, and hate against Asians or any ethnic group. We must stand up and speak out to show that the vast majority of Americans are good people who value the diversity of cultures that is unique to our country.
We pledge our respect and support to our Asian friends and neighbors. We hope you will join us at the rally this Saturday and stand together against hate.
