The link to state test score results provided in the September e-newsletter directed you to the California Alternate Assessment page rather than to the Smarter Balanced Assessment page. For your convenience, following is a direct link to the Smarter Balanced Assessment Test Results.

Our apologies for any confusion.
Anne Silavs, Superintendent

Last spring, students across the state in grades 3 through 8 took part in the 2017 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), which includes the Smarter Balanced computer-based tests for English/language arts and mathematics.
In our school district, we see these tests as an academic checkup. Like class assignments and report cards, they are one gauge for us to measure student progress. Our teachers use information from all these sources to develop learning goals and design effective instruction for student mastery of rigorous academic standards.
Typically, we share information about state test results in August, shortly after parents receive the Student Score Reports. However, this year, the state delayed public release of the 2017 results until September 27, so we were unable to publish the CAASPP edition of our e-newsletter last month.
As always, the Cypress School District is committed to providing a high-quality, world-class education for all our students. It is our mission to inspire and empower every student, every moment, for every opportunity. By working together... administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community members... we can ensure our children are well prepared for success in a dynamic and ever-changing world.
We appreciate your partnership with us!

Understanding the Student Score Report
How did my child perform on the state tests last spring?

The CAASPP Student Score Report is a great tool for promoting conversations about student performance as well as how to support and improve student learning. Along with an overall score for each subject, the report has information about how a student performed in different skill areas associated with English language arts/literacy and mathematics. Furthermore, the Student Score Report shows student progress from one year to the next in grades 4 through 6. The five-minute video below is an excellent resource to help you better understand your child's results.

For a more interactive experience in understanding student scores, we encourage you to visit the California Department of Education's new CAASPP gateway.

School, District, County, and Statewide Results
So, how did we perform compared to others?

In 2017, the Cypress School District performed well above the county and state averages in both English/language arts and mathematics on the Smarter Balanced assessments. While student reports help teachers and parents pinpoint individual student needs, school results enable teachers, principals, and district administrators to make informed decisions about how to best support the overall educational program. The tables below represent the district performance levels in English/language arts and mathematics.
