Welcome to Pilgrim Church of Duxbury
An Open & Affirming Congregation
A few years ago, Geico introduced the Camel announcing Wednesday as “Hump Day!” Well, Wednesday is here! That means it's "hump day" again, but I’m ready to expand it to the middle of the month “Hump Month” as we are almost halfway through May!
We have made some headway in plans for re-opening when it is safe to do so. I am attending a webinar this afternoon regarding the issues around reopening. It will not be until June at the earliest, but we will get there!

So, I offer you this prayer for the middle of the week/month that I hope gives you cause to reflect and talk with God if only for a few seconds! Blessings to you all! Here is a Prayer for Hump Day!

“God of My Beginning, Middle, and End,
half of the week is behind me and half before me;
in some things I have done well, in others I have fallen short.
Bless the work that I have done and the work I have yet to do.
In all that happens, may I walk in your ways and delight in your presence,
serving you and you alone for whatever may come my way. Amen.”

In this time of change in our daily lives, we’re all living in different ways for these past three months. We don’t know how and when we’ll be able to get back to our lives as we knew them before this crisis. In this time, we’re making different strides in our lives.
Betsy and I have a wonderful walk we take every day. We walk through the woods on a grassy path that turns into a paved walkway that leads to a wooden boardwalk over flowing waters. Most days, the sun weaves through the great oak trees and reminds us of the brightness and warmth of our lives, which assures us there is light in our days to lead us forward.
We pray along the way, asking our Creator God to help us make our way through this crisis. We pray for our families and friends, and for the folks who have far greater challenges. We walk with Jesus to strengthen us, as we live in his love and care.
Blessings to you all,
Rev. John

Our food pantry is getting bare as we try to help those in need.

Any donations of apple or cranberry juice, beef stew, canned chicken, peanut butter, pasta and pasta sauce would be greatly appreciated.

You may leave your donations in the church's side entry Monday - Thursday from 9-12.

Large paper bags with handles are also welcome.
Thanks you for your continued support.

June 2020 Pilgrim's Progress
If you would like to include any information in the June 2020 newsletter, please email it to Melissa (office@uccduxbury.org) by Wednesday, May 27th.
Thank you!

We have several volunteer opportunities - please take a look and find the right fit for you. If you have any questions, please contact RB, Nancy von Stackelberg or Rosemary McGreevy.

The Nominating Committee is beginning to meet to recommend new committee members for the openings that will be available because of expiring terms.

If you have any interest in serving on a committee (Trustees, Diaconate, Christian Education, Stewardship, Mission Committee) please let us know!

Do you have a fairly good understanding with reading financial reports? Have you had any experience with QuickBooks? If so, we could really use your help.
Note that we have a bookkeeper on staff.

This volunteer role would be to support our Treasurer, Jim Garrett on the
Board of Trustees. Please contact either Nancy von Stackelberg ( nsvonstack@gmail.com ) or Rosemary McGreevy ( r.mcgreevy@comcast.net ) if you would like to learn more about our opening.

During the social distancing era of the coronova virus, we have been live-streaming our worship services through Facebook Live.  We would like to thank Dwight Shepherd and Greg Hunter  for their assistance during our worship services each week making this possible. We are working on plans to continue recording parts of our worship services, even after the Sanctuary reopens. Right now, Dwight is doing the videos, and Gregory is handling the sound system, but we will need other people to step in when they are not available, especially during the summer months. If you are willing to help us videotape our services, please contact Dwight, Greg or Rev. Bill Ferguson. Any one of them can tell you what is involved.
Thank you to all who are doing their best to continue to support us through your pledges and contributions as best you are able.
