Please Support Our Annual Fund
The Annual Fund Campaign is our primary opportunity for school families to participate in the continued success of our school by helping to bridge the gap left by state and local funding. This fund supports existing educational programs, new curriculum development, improves facilities, and supports essential needs of Socrates Academy.
An online form must be filled out for each scholar at Socrates Academy.

This year we will not be able to take cash or checks for educational expenses.

5th - 8th

No live classes will be held on Fridays for 5th - 8th Grade ONLY. (Correction from previous newsletter) Our expectation is that students will use this day to catch up on missed work, study for upcoming assignments or attend office hours to ask any questions they may have. In the future this time may be reserved for small group on-campus instruction.
Socrates Email Addresses - 3rd - 8th Grade
If your child has a Socrates Academy email address, please note that this cannot be used in Gmail. Socrates email accounts can be configured using Outlook.
Powerschool Questions
The Parent Portal for Powerschool is down due to state-wide issues. If you have a powerschool question, please email our Registrar,, rather than calling the school.
Supply Pick Up Directions

Please enter through the Elementary School lot off of Weddington Road and Drive to the back of the Middle School building. We will be handing out items through the Multi Purpose Room Doors.

Please create a sign with the following information:
  • Your child's first and last name

Join the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees (Socrates Academy Foundation) is seeking individuals willing to dedicate some of their energy and talent to the continued success and growth of Socrates Academy.
As Socrates Academy Foundation seeks to grow its fundraising efforts for the capital needs of the school, it is imperative to secure new board members with expertise in any of the following: fundraising, project management and financing. The Board would like to identify a candidate who can fill the role of a Treasurer. The Board is currently seeking to onboard 2-4 new members.
Potential candidates should anticipate being able to participate in monthly board meetings which occur the second Wednesday of each month at 6pm. Additionally, candidates should consider having occasional availability for planning meetings for the school’s potential expansion.

Interested candidates should email the Boards of Trustees President at
Restrictions on Google/Chromebooks
If you have child restrictions enabled on your device, your child may have difficultly viewing applications required for learning. The applications may include but are not limited to, Class Dojo, Youtube, Google Classroom or any other educational websites. Google does a great job at protecting children from inappropriate web browsing, but it has been reported that educational sites, may be blocked as well. To learn more about how to change restrictions review your device manual.

As a work around, parents may want to consider creating gmail accounts for their children that will only be used for school. These accounts do not have restrictions enabled if the birth date entered, makes the child over 13 years of age.
Dear Socrates Academy Family,
This letter is to inform you that Mr. Newberry will not return for the 2020-21 school year. We are tremendously thankful for Mr. Newberry’s leadership during his tenure at Socrates Academy and wish him the best.
We will begin interviews for a K-8 Assistant Principal in the immediate future. In the meantime, the Board of Directors and myself are grateful for the administrative support team stepping up to feel the void. Moreover, our teacher leaders will also provide necessary support and we are grateful for their contributions.
I do ask that you support our scholars and staff members through positive conversations and interactions moving forward. Thank you for helping us create a productive learning environment at Socrates Academy.
