Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,
One Week Down!!! Your students did very well with the first full week! It’s so fun visiting classrooms and marveling at how much your children have grown while also adjusting to seeing them in classrooms a grade level higher. I also love thinking about all they will learn as they are stretched, challenged and loved this year. It’s going to be a great year!
I wanted to share a new policy we are implementing this year that was shared with me by a colleague at a neighboring school. At St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, we value an open communication policy with our families as we fulfill our mission to partner with parents to educate our students. We encourage parents to communicate with their teachers if there is a question regarding their student or classroom. The best and most efficient method of communication is e-mail. Our teachers work diligently to meet the needs of each student. Their dedication and commitment are highly valued. We show honor to their commitment by respecting their time off. Although teacher cell phones may be provided due to special circumstances or outside personal relationships, communication with teachers and staff regarding students should only occur through their school email or by contacting the school by phone. Please note, that teachers are attending to the students’ instructional needs during the school day and will respond to emails during scheduled times of the day/week. Teachers and staff are required to respond to communication within 24 hours. During the first week of school, you will receive information regarding teachers’ communications times. Teachers are asked to not answer emails in the evenings (after 4:30 pm) or during the weekend. If you have a matter that requires immediate attention, please call the front office during the school day or email me at vtucker@ap.school. I check my e-mail in the evenings and on weekends. Thank you for helping me to honor our teachers, staff and their families. We promise to do the same for you, your students and your families as we work to make this an incredible year!
Thank you for your patience and support as we adjust to new routines with our fence and roof construction. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Parent Information Nights!
Only by His Grace,
Veronica Tucker
Principal

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School is currently seeking applicants for Substitutes – Classroom (PreK-3 through 8th Grade). If you would like to be considered, please contact Veronica Tucker, Principal, at vtucker@ap.school.
| |
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD WILL BE ABSENT?
Please email attendance@ap.school and copy your child’s teacher. You may let us know in advance if your child will be absent due to a scheduled appointment. Calls made by students are not acceptable. If a student’s absence is not confirmed by 8:30 am, the school office attempts to contact the parent to verify the student’s whereabouts.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I NEED TO PICK UP MY CHILD EARLY?
You may send in a note with your child or email the front office at attendance@ap.school with the time that you wish your child to be released. Your child should stop at the front desk upon arrival at school that day to receive an early release sticker. This important step will help reduce classroom interruptions and help you get to your scheduled appointment on time. The latest early release time in the afternoon is 3:00 p.m.–any later disrupts our regular dismissal procedures.
HOW LONG MAY I WALK MY CHILD TO CLASSROOMS?
All students should walk on their own to class starting Monday, August 19. Please encourage Early Childhood students to walk to class on their own (or with older siblings). Our teachers and staff will assist them happily on their way.
WHAT TYPE OF WATER BOTTLES AND BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED?
We highly encourage plastic water bottles. Stainless steel water bottles tend to drop frequently and because they are heavier making a loud sound, disrupting the learning process. Stanley cups (or any brand) with a removable straw are not permitted. Water bottles must have a total seal. As a test, close the water bottle and turn it upside down. If water leaks, this bottle is not permitted. This will prevent many leaks and accidents in the classrooms and hallways. Students may only drink water in classrooms. Carbonated drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks and coffee may not be consumed in classrooms or hallways. Water fountains, with water bottle fillers, are available to all students throughout the campus.
MAY I BRING IN FORGOTTEN ITEMS? MAY I BRING SPECIAL LUNCHES?
An important part of building responsibility in children is allowing them to experience logical and natural consequences. We ask that you do not bring forgotten academic items to school (homework, projects, etc.). If an academic item is brought to a student, the student will have the same consequence as if submitting a late assignment. If a lunch is forgotten, a lunch will be provided and charged to the student. Fast food may be brought in as a treat for birthdays, but not on a regular basis or in place of forgotten lunches.
CAN MY STUDENT WEAR FREE DRESS ON THEIR BIRTHDAY?
YES! Students may wear FREE DRESS on their birthday or a day near their birthday (No Mass Days please). Students with summer birthdays may make arrangements with their teacher to designate a day to use their birthday pass. Birthday Free Dress must follow the guidelines of Free Dress Days in our Family Handbook.

Please make sure you report any absences to Attendance (attendance@ap.school). If your child has a reportable illness please let attendance or Nurse Pavlock know (i.e. COVID, Strep throat, Flu, Staph infection). REMINDER: A child must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication before they return to school.
If your child has a well check throughout the year and receives any vaccinations, please provide an official/stamped copy of their updated immunizations (a print out from the patient portal is not considered official per the state of Texas).
Please make sure we have the most current phone numbers for parents or emergency contacts in FACTS.
