They promised to defend. We promise to support.
Founder's Message
Dear OHT Friend,
I hope this finds you all well and dealing with winter well wherever you are. We seem to be making progress with COVID vaccines and like you, I sincerely hope we will get back to some sense of normalcy as soon as possible. I know we’re all more than ready!

This month we honor Nate Hardy and Mike Koch - Navy SEALs to whom OHT is dedicated. They were killed 13 years ago on Feb 4, 2008. On that fateful night, Nate and Mike were going to watch the Super Bowl when the New England Patriots were going to battle with the New York Giants. They told their families they were going to watch the match-up together.

Both young men left families devastated and in Nate’s case, a 7-month boy without a daddy. They were warriors who defended this country and our freedom. They were respected SEALs on Team6 and performed their duties to perfection. They even captured the attention of then President George W. Bush who mentioned them by name in his Memorial Day speech, something he rarely did.

Nate and Mike are buried side by side at Arlington National Cemetery as brothers. May they rest in peace.

OHT NEVER FORGETS their sacrifice or others who make the ultimate sacrifice. We at OHT hope you will remember all those like Nate and Mike who defended our country every day.

Be Well and Stay Safe,

Dot Sheehan

OHT DONATES TO THE NEW ENGLAND CENTER AND HOME FOR VETERANS
Operation Hat Trick recently made a donation to the New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV), to be used for their Senior Veteran Wellness Program, to ensure veterans can age with dignity and provide specific support for their needs.

The overall objective is to enable Veteran success, and improve their wellness and quality of life. Ensuring that Veterans have access to, and are supported in appropriate and sustainable independent living, is a major element of the Center’s focus. Economic stability, behavioral health, and housing assistance are important requirements for the success of formerly homeless Veterans.

OHT Excellence in Service Awards
It’s that time of year again when we begin the selection process for the annual Operation Hat Trick Excellence in Service Awards.

Despite the many challenges COVID has brought to all campus communities across the country, OHT has thankfully been able to continue making donations to support organizations that assist in the recovery of wounded service members and veterans.

Cash awards from OHT on behalf of your institution to your selected charity will once again be awarded to Finalists and a Winner. Last year a total of $60,000 in donations was awarded, and our plan is to add to that total this year! Last year’s donations made a very significant difference to all chosen organizations.

The Operation Hat Trick Excellence in Service Awards are given to those institutions that have successfully done the following:

  • Made a commitment to OHT to enhance its visibility, thus ultimately being able to help OHT fill more gaps in care for wounded and recovering service members and veterans
  • Fully integrated OHT at their institution
  • Made OHT part of their campus Bookstore
  • Expanded OHT’s reach to other retailers in their community and beyond
  • Launched Marketing, Social Media and Promotional campaigns promoting OHT

More details to come on the presentation of the awards.
